In case you are compiling grocery store reports. I just went to Associated on 14th to grab some cat litter, and the store is packed with people shopping for the impending snowstorm. I didn't realize it was going to be that bad, but the store is crowded, and it takes some patience to get around!
WHY ARE YOU STILL SITTING THERE READING THIS. Go!

To be fair, it is hard on any given day to get around in that less than supermarket.
Um I don't know about that. Checking the forecast, and as an outdoorsman I'm sort of a weather hawk, looks like we're set for a high of 39 or 40 depending on who you ask, and a mix of snow and rain. Looks like we are in for a wet one, but crisis doesn't seem likely. The heavy stuff is expected in New England, that doesn't include NYC. newbies. I'm starting to believe that ppl simply enjoy panicking and emptying store shelves. Makes them feel alive maybe.
i just heard on the weather channel that they are now calling for 12-18 inches for nyc
Ever since Katrina the media jumps on any kind weather that looks like a big deal. Sometimes they're right, sometimes they're wrong. Gives them something to fill the news cycle with. Some news outlets are already reminding people to send in their photos of the storm which isn't even here yet!
it's too late
3 hours ago the line was out the door at trader joes.
it's too damn cold to stand outside a supermarket on a line to get in.
gez.
To the previous poster: That's what was expected, but now the forecast has changed. THIS COULD BE SNOWMAGEDDON PART TWO!!!!!!!!!!!!! RUN NOW WHILE YOU CAN!!!!!!!!!!!!! Or just stay inside eating until it is over.
I don't know about all that - people didn't take Sandy seriously. It's not worth assuming nothing is going to happen if concern only means buying $100 worth of water and groceries.
I'd rather be prepared and have it lead to nothing than to be unprepared begging my neighbors for a can of tuna.

At Associated on Bleecker and West Broadway as of 5:30 PM the lines were well within normal. A bit long, but "eh, maybe you should open up another register" crowded rather than "people getting trampled to death hoarding bottled water" crowded.
Not sure about the rest of you but I love snow, so I will be outside all day!!!
It's a BS forecast. Not gonna happen.
Met was normal tonight.
Please say dumpster diving is dead.
