I always tell this story, a bunch of us were in there having drinks before a Chillmaster dance party when I uttered the fateful words: "Wouldn't it be funny if this was the last day of the Mars Bar." It was and it didn't turn out to be funny at all. It seems like a lifetime ago.
i fell upon the mars bar 3 years ago when i first arrived in nyc..went in twice for a drink with a friend, both of us were fascinated that such a place still existed since it has the feel and the look of the east village in days gone by..sadly a year later i read that it was torn down..sad, that the east village lost a classic place like that and was replaced by just another building...

As if the heat wasn't enough of a reason to have a drink today!
It's because we talk about its closing WAY before it actually closed.
Those glass buildings break me heart...
Along with EV's soul.

May I use that photo in the link you included for a separate post? I'd love to know more about this... Or do they want to be anonymous?
