EVG reader olympiasepiriot spotted this red-tailed hawk lounging around a fire escape this evening on East Ninth Street… the hawks usually reserve the photo opps for Tompkins Square Park…
This morning, I learned something about hawks -- or, at least, this hawk. When waking, it likes to stand, stretch itself out with wings and tail back, head forward, really long and take a breath and then have a HUGE projectile shit and then shake its head and settle back down to scan the adjacent tree for breakfast.

Here was there all night, we saw him in the morning eyeing the delicious pigeons keeping a safe distance, i have a not so good photo of him at 8:00
I've always wondered where the hawks go at night. Lucky you!
