Tonight marks the grand opening of Black Ant, the new Mexican restaurant from the owners of Ofrenda in the West Village.
Here's the menu for Black Ant, located at 60 Second Ave. near East Third Street.
And there are musical guests.
Very excited to announce legendary Mexican Artist DJ/Producer @NortecCollectiv will be performing live at our May 14th Grand Opening!!

This Weeks Sign the Apocalypse is Upon Us- $14 grasshopper appetizer
maybe it's me but a Mexican restaurant (or any restaurant for that matter) call the Black Ant does not sound that quite appealing to me...
Had me at "new mexican restaurant", and then kind of lost me at "artist DJ/producer" and "performing live". Sorry, old-fashioned like that.
In the early 1980s this space was a Mexican-Indian restaurant called Chili 'n Curry. They had pitchers of beer for 5 bucks, and that was the only reason to go there, because both the Mexican and the Indian food offerings were splendidly horrific. Probably the worst Mexindio cuisine I've ever had, or ever hope to.
What—no cucaracha appetizer? Seriously, why not just name the restaurant "La Cucaracha?"
And The Red Ant will be opening in the West Village. And then there will be war!
