Filmmakers prepping to film a 'riot' tonight in Tompkins Square Park
As we noted Monday, filmmakers Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini are recreating the Tompkins Square Park riots of 1988 tonight for their low-budget adaption of the Eleanor Henderson novel "Ten Thousand Saints."
Here's a look at the action as of around 5:15 …
… and a few of the extras wait for their scene(s) …
The scenes of the actual "riot" are being filmed tonight… crews are expected here until 3 a.m.
We welcome any photos or videos of the filming action today/tonight … Please send them our way via the EV Grieve email

is that why there are a bunch of cops on the corners around EV?
Does anyone know if the money that I'm assuming is generated from all of these film shoots benefits this area, or is it just "the city" as a whole? I have no knowledge on this matter- just curious.
TSP protesters would not have had signs saying "Money for housing, not for Pentagon". Their politics is not that advanced.
EMERGENCY PARTY REGULATIONS ARE IN EFFECT!
EVG.....all 'ya gotta do is QUICK invite 2000 of your friends and blog-followers to an Emergency Block Party.....get the party rollin' into high gear about 11 tonight.....take it down into the Park (historically-accurate boom boxes supplied)......

I miss the blue cop cars.
Blue cop cars brought me back to my childhood this morning when I passed by!
Nice that the folks from the '80s are all absorbed in their smartphones.
