What the cluck? Chickens in the works for former vegetarian hotspot Dirt Candy on East 9th Street

The popular vegetarian restaurant Dirt Candy closed at 430 E. Ninth St. at the end of last August ahead of its relocation to a larger space on Allen Street.
In November 2013, Dirt Candy chef Amanda Cohen told us that she was unsure what would become of the small Ninth Street location between Avenue A and First Avenue.
Yesterday, EVG regular William Klayer spotted this flyer on the former Dirt Candy space... a menu for something called Chickens... specializing in, well, chicken... chicken any way that you want it...
In an email to us last night, Cohen said that she sold the space, but couldn't divulge any other details at the moment.
So we hope to find out who's behind these chickens soon...

Hoooeey, love me some fried chicken, but that triple fried bird is triple my budget. Sure do miss Birdies.
Those prices are absurd.
It's just chicken right? I don't see a "craft" or Hybread" note in the menu. Why the $$$ for chicken?! This joint will be packed for 3monts with the trolling foodies that pics & posting. Who's behind this, looks like dads money.
Its a joke guys, chicken tartare?! Wonder what theyre drumming up interest for.
If you actually look at the menu, it's very clear that it's not real. Every beverage and dessert is chicken.

Is this "bar for pregnant woman" all over again? God save us from all this hilarious comedy, it's too much. My sides hurt.

Heh. Anyway, this sign is jokey like the ones Marcus the owner put up over on East First Street before the first JP opened… Mime Academy, Robot Daycare, etc.

Well Grieve, one of the dessert items IS Fruit Loops...so what we have here is likely another classic example of the old bait-and-switch where an all-chicken place uses deception to eventually become a Juice Press place of business.
