Good news if you're a fan of Minca.
The popular ramen shop on East Fifth Street just west of Avenue B
had been closed since mid-December for some unspecified gas-related issue.
However, as you can see in this photo via EVG reader Alexis, Minca returns this coming Wednesday, Feb. 25, here at 536 E. Fifth St.
Updated:
Despite what the sign says, Minca will reopen on THURSDAY, Feb. 25...

Welcome back!!! Will be in the 25th for a spicy ramen and plum wine.
WOOT!
Hell yeah it's great news. Minca/Kambi (like RaiRaiKen) is a real deal East Village joint. There are a lot of places to get good ramen around here, but most of them are outposts of foreign businesses. Pfft. When you come to the East Village, eat local you sons of bitches.
Not a troll - but do people prefer Minca? The same owners run Kambi Ramen at 14th and 1st, which has largely the same menu, in a larger, newer space. I happen to live closer to Kambi, but even if I lived closer to Minca, I'd consider going to Kambi because it has the same food and nicer seating.
Kambi and Minca are owned by the same people. I prefer Minca because it's closer to me and has much more charm and character and 5th St is WAY cuter that 14th St.
THE VERY BEST NEWS, I AM SO HAPPY I CAN'T EVEN SIT DOWN
I'll gladly eat at both but could swear Minca is a little better. Yes maybe it is the setting. Slightly easier to get a seat at Kambi.
You are lucky, the building had yet another gas leak tonight with full FDNY response. Get it while the building still stand (Minca was closed for another failure of the building's structure) for almost 3 months!
Yes!
For anyone as confused by the date situation as I was, I just called and they actually open tomorrow, which is Thursday, February 25th.
Alas, one more day 'til that hot pork action.
