On Monday, we reported that hospitality veteran Curt Heugel's Host Restaurants, whose portfolio includes concepts such as Bill's Townhouse, Campagnola and Printers Alley, was behind a new unnamed venture for 106 Third Ave. at 13th Street — the former Brazen Fox.
Turns out the venture will be ... the Brazen Fox. The bar-restaurant announced its reopening yesterday on Instagram... stating that they've "reached an agreement" to return...

Just what we need - another frat boy hang out thanks!
They should just stay in White Plains north of the city which most NYC folks have never set foot.
Good food, great beer selection, friendly staff. People need to stop complaining so much and try to celebrate NYC trying to get back to normal.
@Neighbor: Why would anyone rejoice at the return of another we-love-being-as-loud-as-we-can bar (and one that's a lousy neighbor on its block, BTW!) catering to drunken fratty jerks - and on a stretch of 3rd Avenue that used to be part of the neighborhood, but which now exists only to enable loud drunken fratty jerks? This just shows how far the neighborhood has fallen since that location was the Dugout Tavern.
Being a drunken jerk seems to be aspirational for so many people now. What a pathetic way to live one's life.
I wonder what all these young drinkers could afford, if they weren't literally pissing their money away on booze at every opportunity? Luckily for them, AA meetings are free.
I'm with 'neighbor' here. There is likely not anything that could go into this place that would satisfy the naysayers.
Happy to hear they will be back.
These people are fooling themselves. Their patrons are not going back. The frats have rented apartments and use them as virtual nightclubs. Visit 330 E 6th st any Friday or Sat night its not raining - the top floor is a disco blasting music all night - the local precinct's officers seem to have been ordered by the brass to not do anything. There are spots like this all over the village. They distribute coke and molly and engage in behavior that would never be allowed in a bar. The backyards, like at 332 E 6th or 333 E 5th are full of sorority girls and other drunk idiots screamingly paying beer pong or bean bag all weekend. They are the planned future of this City. They're making billions on their cybercurrencyy ponzi schemes. Humans do not have a chance. Its going to be ugly.
Gross, out of place santacon garbage pit. Was hoping most of their patrons left NYC
Good for them. Rarely go there but did eat outside last summer and they followed rules with discipline. Will go back soon.
I used to be a drunken fratty jerk. Got kicked out of the Dugout Tavern many times. Luckily I found AA and EV Grieve.
I’m with Neighbor too. Great to see them returning. Staff were always very friendly, food was great and it was always a fun time.
BEST WINGS IN NEW YORK. BEST NEWS ALL DAY.
Brazen Fox's prime location is in the City of White Plains, NY, just 30 minutes away either by car or rail from midtown Manhattan. It's customer base is the career minded demographic that often leaves the city for the pricey suburbs nearby as their bedroom community when they have a family but still need to commute to the city for work. NYC is too expensive for them to raise a family with all the fancy bells and whistles.
Contrast greatly with some of the other cities in the Hudson River Valley like artsy Beacon or funky Kingston which are these "East Villages" north of the city that have bars that are more catchy to the "hipster" and artist crowd who enjoy a picturesque charm in the countryside. A bar/restaurant like the one across the street from Brazen on 3rd, the rustic Linen Hall is a great example of this.
Everyone who's "glad" to see this place return must not live within hearing distance of the outrageous, nearly-unbearable noise level this place puts out, particularly when its windows are all OPEN to the outside which inflicts maximum misery & noise pollution on ALL their neighbors. No way this place can be considered a good "corporate" citizen nor a good business in the neighborhood. I'm sure it's a good source of income for the owners, who don't have to listen to the noise, though. They just look at their bank account, swelled by all the booze-hounds.
This should be kept up in White Plains, which is a wasteland of "corporate culture" and the heavy drinking that goes with it.
Maybe you would all prefer an ‘Target To-go’ there instead?
@12:17pm: Yes, I actually would, b/c Target is a respectful business, and it doesn't keep everyone in the area awake all night with the sound of woo-wooing drunks.
If Brazen Fox is "headquartered" in White Plains, then why is it here on 3rd Ave, other than to make bank off of modern-day winos? (And yeah, that's what they are, IMO.)
