As Chris O'Leary wrote in his Brew New York newsletter:
The shop-and-bar was a craft beer pioneer when it opened, and was the first beer-focused bottle shop with on-premise drinking in Manhattan, paving the way for others throughout the borough that continue to operate to this day.

Many of us on the block (and in the 'hood) will miss Good Beer. David ran a great business, and was an excellent neighbor.
Tough loss for the hood. Great business and nice people.
Loved David’s place. Our go to for beer.
Sad. They seemed respectful to their neighborhood with multiple signs telling patrons to keep noise down if they were sitting outside. A good selection of beer that you don’t always find or easily accessibly. More of these places and less smoke shops and trashy bars.
I'm going to pour one out for Good Beer tonight. We miss you already, please find a way to come back!
(Note: I'll be pouring out a Bud Light as I'd never waste an actual Good Beer... it would be an affront to the folks that worked in the shop)
Will be sorely missed; what a great part of the neighborhood.
Totally gutted. Dave’s place was more than a beer shop. It was a place to hang out, talk music, have a laugh and meet some new people who enjoyed the same. Neighbourhood just won’t be the same without it.
