EVG reader Danimal reports that an employee leaving the space confirmed that Matane will be a Japanese restaurant, with an opening expected sometime by the end of the year. (They have a spaceholder Instagram account here.) 
The storefront previously housed two short-lived dollar pizza shops.
Matane will also have some Japanese restaurant company on this stretch of First Avenue, with Cho-Ko right next door.
