Countdown to MulchFest 2021!

This weekend, someone dropped off a small Christmas tree at the site of the annual MulchFest in Tompkins Square Park.

Perhaps the resident wanted to make space in the apartment for the Halloween decorations.

By the way, NYC Parks recycled a record 48,230 trees during Mulchfest 2020. The previous record was 30,226 trees in 2014, per this news release. Well, here's one for 2021.

Someone yesterday along East 14th Street decided that it was time to toss the xmas tree and the hammock. Two unwanted seasonal items taken care of at one time.

Speaking of resurrections ... spotted this on St. Mark's Place today. Plenty of green left in this one. Why someone is throwing it out now is baffling. This year's winner receives a bottle of Dom Pérignon rosé (1962 vintage).

Easter Sunday

Well, while walking toward East River Park late this afternoon… we spotted this scene on Avenue C … a woman pushing a fake Xmas tree… We have nothing to prove that this actually happened today and not, say, Dec. 28. (Though it was likely snowing then!) Maybe take our word for it?
