Café Social 68 coming to Avenue A
Signage arrived last week for Café Social 68, a new spot at 68 Avenue A between Fourth Street and Fifth Street.
This is the former Croissanteria space ... and the new venture is a like-minded concept with coffee, pastries (no croissants though!) and a lunch-dinner menu featuring sandwiches, salads and rice bowls. No word on an opening date, though we're told it should be fairly soon.
Croissanteria closed in the spring after seven years of service.

Auction at Croissanteria today
Croissanteria is now officially closed at 68 Avenue A between Fourth Street and Fifth Street.
There was a small sign on the door announcing an auction today (Monday, April 1) at 1 p.m. Everything left in the restaurant is for sale, per the sign.
Several people mentioned an interest in the cafe's antique wall clock...

The bakery and cafe began selling coffee and croissants here in October 2012. There wasn't any reason for the closure made public.

Croissanteria is closing on Avenue A
Croissanteria, the bakery and cafe offering coffee and a croissant-centric menu, is wrapping up nearly seven years at 68 Avenue A between Fourth Street and Fifth Street.
On Friday, an EVG reader noted a sign on the door saying the shop was closing in the next few days. On Saturday, that sign was gone, replaced by a notice of an auction ("everything for sale"), which takes place April 1 at 1 p.m.
The last day is said to be Wednesday. [Updated 3/28: As of today, the shop was still open.]
The cafe opened in October 2012.

Croissanteria now open on Avenue A
Croissanteria, which we first mentioned back in July, had its grand opening this weekend here on Avenue A near East Fifth Street... EVG contributor Stacie Joy stopped by for a few photos...
Hours are 7 a.m. to midnight. Anyone try the cafe-bakery yet...? Let us know in the comments...
