At the Exit9 20th anniversary celebration
As previously mentioned/posted, Exit9, the gift shop at 51 Avenue A between East Third Street and East Fourth Street, celebrated its 20th anniversary yesterday.
Among the activities: a prize wheel.

And there were temporary tattoos…

That Halloween spirit at Exit9
As noted, the gift shop at 51 Avenue A between East Third Street and East Fourth Street transformed its front windows into a "grisly operating theater" where "a demented doctor loses his patience as he loses his patients."
Well, we're sorry that we missed it because we heard from several people who really liked it… EVG contributor Stacie Joy stopped by
Per Stacie: "People seemed to love it and be grossed out."

The Doctor will be in(sane) Friday at Exit 9
Here’s a spooky Halloween missive from the folks at Exit 9:
This Halloween, Exit 9 is going insane! Gore-hungry East Village tricksters (and their parents) can feast their eyes on spine-tingling scenes of medical malpractice. Exit 9 will transform its front windows into a grisly operating theater. See actual surgery performed on unwilling victims! You're going to be sick. Bring your own barf bag and get special treats.
From 6:30 to 8:30 pm, whether they want to or not, pedestrians passing the store (located at 51 Avenue A between 3rd and 4th Streets) will bear witness as a demented doctor loses his patience as he loses his patients.

A memorial for Donald Suggs on Avenue A
A memorial went up yesterday outside Exit9 on Avenue A where Donald Suggs worked. The longtime East Village resident died this past weekend of an apparent heart attack. He was 51.
His many friends and loved ones are planning a celebration of his life. In the comments last night, Exit9 owner Charles Branstool wrote that he would share information about any memorial/celebration on the store's website and Facebook page. We'll post those details here too.

Exit 9 on schedule to open new Avenue A store next month
After 16 years at 64 Avenue A, Exit 9 packed up and moved away in late June ... but, as Jen Doll reported at Runnin' Scared, they were only moving across the street to the former Urban Roots space.
So, work continues in their new home.

Exit 9's short exit on Avenue A
As we reported back on June 2, Exit 9 had announced that it was leaving its home of 16 years on Avenue A. At the time, a commenter said that the gift shop would be moving just down the street.
Yesterday, our friend Jen Doll at Runnin' Scared had the scoop that the shop would open at the former Urban Roots space one block to the south. The new space is expected to be ready in September.
