Where to Honk the Vote! in the East Village tomorrow

Honk the Vote! continues (Oct. 9-19) around NYC. 

Tomorrow (Sunday!), the Hungry March Band will be parading through the East Village, starting at 4:30 at Temperance Fountain in Tompkins Square Park. The itinerary includes stops at MoRUS on Avenue C, Lucky on Avenue B ... and 2A and Two Boots on Avenue A. (See the flyer above for timing.) 

Meanwhile, yesterday, one of the participating Honk the Vote! groups, Brazil's BaBaDan Banda de Rua, was in the East Village... where EVG's Stacie Joy caught them in Tompkins...

HONK alert!

HONK NY!, the activist and community-based street bands, will be roaming around the East Village this evening starting at 7 ... part of a monthlong NYC "invasion."

Expect to see band members in Tompkins Square Park, La Plaza Cultural, and other community gardens... not to mention Two Boots on Avenue A.

HONK NYC! returns to the streets and community gardens

HONK NY!, the activist and community-based street bands, is back in action this week... Today (Friday!), HONK is hosting a Horns to the Sky! program in Tompkins Square Park from 4-6:30 p.m.

And tomorrow afternoon (Saturday!), HONK bands will be in the East Village ... along the Open Street of Avenue B and in various community gardens. This link provides the details.

[Updated] Honk if you like...



The 2017 HONK NYC Festival wraps up tomorrow afternoon at multiple East Village/LES locations, starting at the Children's Magical Garden on Stanton Street and ending at La Plaza Cultural on Ninth Street and Avenue C, with a parade along Avenue C in between [Updated: The parade on C is no longer happening] ... it's part of the HONK for MORE Gardens! Procession.

Everyone is welcome to join the day's events starting at Children's Magical Garden at 129 Stanton St. near Essex at noon, where we'll have craft & prop-making time accompanied by music from Damas de Ferro of Rio de Janeiro.

• At 2 pm our procession steps off on Stanton to Pitt Street, and we march/dance up Avenue C, ending at La Plaza Cultural Community Garden at approximately 2:45 pm. This is a permitted street parade.
• At 3 pm Liberation Drum Circles will lead a one-hour workshop, free to all, at La Plaza.
• At 4:15 pm Batala New York returns for a performance of Northern Brazilian samba reggae drum rhythms, at La Plaza.
• At 5 pm all welcome to join the procession from La Plaza to DROM on Ave A, for the HONK NYC Closing Party.
