Openings: The Onion Tree Pizza Co. on 1st Ave.

The Onion Tree Pizza Co. opened earlier this spring on the SE corner of First Avenue and 13th Street.

Chef Jay Jadeja and his wife Raquel have owned and operated several NYC restaurants in the past 20-plus years. They currently run The Onion Tree in Sea Cliff on Long Island's North Shore as well as its East Village sibling.

The interior includes an ode to The 27 Club — musicians who died at age 27, including Amy Winehouse, Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison... (Chef Jay is a classic rock fan.)

While there's an extensive menu, the pizza, an Indian-Italian fusion focused on Napoletana and Romana styles, gets the most attention...

The Onion Tree Pizza Co., 214 First Ave., is open Wednesday through Thursday from 2 to 10 p.m., Friday from 2 to midnight, Saturday from noon to midnight, and Sunday from noon to 10 p.m.

Workers yesterday installed signage for The Onion Tree Pizza Co. on the SE corner of First Avenue and 13th Street. 

The husband-wife team of Jay and Raquel Jadeja plans to debut an EV outpost of their Long Island-based restaurant later this spring. (They received administrative approval for a new beer-wine license this month via Community Board 3.)

The restaurant in Sea Cliff on the North Shore serves traditional (and not-so-traditional) pizzas, including a chicken tikka masala. The menu is available here.

No word on an opening date here.

On the April CB3-SLA docket: The Onion Tree Pizza Co. on 1st Avenue

A Long Island-based restaurant known for serving some unique pizzas is opening an East Village outpost.

Jay and Raquel Jadeja, a husband-wife team, plan to debut an outpost of The Onion Tree Pizza Co. at 214 First Ave., on the SE corner of 13th Street, this spring. 

The owners are on this month's CB3-SLA docket for a beer-wine license but will not be appearing before the committee. (They have received administrative approval based on the method of operation, a beer-wine license for a previously licensed space that will primarily be a restaurant and not a bar.)

The restaurant out in Sea Cliff on the North Shore serves traditional (and not-so-traditional) pizzas, including a chicken tikka masala. (The menu is available here.)

The questionnaire on file at the CB3 website shows that The Onion Tree Pizza Co. plans to have daily hours of 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. ... with 16 tables accommodating 36 guests.

Koko Sushi was the most recent tenant in this corner space.
