What the devil? Vector Gallery closes on 3rd Street
That's it for the Vector Gallery, dubbed the Official Art Gallery of Satan by its founder, on Third Street between Avenue A and Avenue B... workers cleared out the space yesterday...
And a for rent sign via Steve Croman's 9300 Realty is now at the small storefront.
In April, the city inspected the space over complaints that the gallery was "illegally used for religious assembly." Then in March, an event/performance described as "a Vectorian Mass dedicated to the 'Israeli-Palestinian Conflict'" drew a heavy FDNY response after a report of a small fire inside the space. (Any fire was related to the Mass.)
The Gallery didn't appear to be a hit with all neighbors, as someone scrawled "Yuppie scum paying $3,900 to create unoriginal shit" on the front window.
The gallery opened last August.
And this likely won't be the last time you'll see the Gallery, which has had stints on Clinton Street, East Broadway ... and in Los Angeles.
According to its website, "VECTOR Gallery seceded from the United States, making it the newest (and smallest) independent country in the world." Not sure what the asking rent will be for the smallest country in the world. But the 325-square-foot space (with basement) is on the market for $3,250 a month, per the listing.
Previously this space housed Snack Dragon, which closed in October 2014 after being Cromanated.

A city inspector want to see if the Vektor Galley is 'being illegally used for religious assembly'
The last time we checked in with the Vektor Gallery, aka the Official Gallery of Satan, they were hosting an event/performance described as "a Vectorian Mass dedicated to the 'Israeli-Palestinian Conflict.'"
That performance drew a heavy response from the FDNY here on Third Street between Avenue A and Avenue B. There was a report of a fire inside the small space, according to a witness.
On Saturday, a city inspector came calling ... to "ensure compliance with the New York Building Code," etc., etc.
Here is the complaint on file with the DOB (in their all-cap style) dated March 31: FDNY HAVE FILED A NORMAL PRIORITY REFERRAL REPORTING THAT STORE AT RIGHT HAND CORNER IS BEING ILLEGALLY USED FOR RELIGIOUS ASSEMBLY.
Also this past weekend, someone left this message on the gallery's front window...
"Yuppie scum paying $3,900 to create unoriginal shit."
The gallery opened last August.

Performance at Vector Gallery draws heavy FDNY presence on 3rd Street
Tonight over on Third Street between Avenue A and Avenue B, the Vector Galley was hosting an event/performance described as "a Vectorian Mass dedicated to the 'Israeli-Palestinian Conflict.'"
Whether there was an issue related to over-crowding or perhaps a report of a fire, the FDNY showed up around 9:20 ...
Per one witness: "The FDNY has had 3 trucks parked outside for at least 20 minutes now. Seems like a fire code violation for capacity though I heard one person say they saw people burning stuff in the small gallery."
Here's more on tonight's event at the gallery:
The gallery opened back in August.

B!R!A!VANA is an alchemical exorcise to advance The so-called "Peace Process" beyond the impasse that has become salient to the frozen architecture of the region.
As always, we are delighted to micromanage the political affairs of The Middle East and will employ ritual pageantry to advance the immortal will of our imperial interests.
BRAVANA will feature new visual art by Crown Prince of Hell JJ Brine as well performances by Ministers of The Vectorian Government.
Vectorian Minister of State ("The Enforcer") Lena Marquise will manifest Syrian First Lady ASMA AL-ASSAD.
Vectorian Minister of Growth ("The Soldier") Michael Bianchino will manifest UNCLE SAM.
Vectorian Minister of Ceremonies ("The Bride") Cecily Feitel will manifest THE ULTRA-ZIONIST ISRAELI SETTLER.

At the opening night of the Vector Gallery on 3rd Street
Last night, the Vector Gallery — aka the Official Gallery of Satan — made its debut at 199 E. Third St. between Avenue A and Avenue B.
Founder JJ Brine (below in the camouflage jump suit) previously held forth on Clinton Street, East Broadway ... and in Los Angeles.
EVG contributor Stacie Joy stopped early and shared a few photos ... there were various "Sermons/Situations/Soliloquies" later in the evening for the opening ...

Hellbound: The Official Gallery of Satan opening on East 3rd Street
You may have noticed the transformation in recent weeks of the empty storefront at 199 E. Third St. between Avenue A and Avenue B... the space is the new home of Vector Gallery, formerly on Clinton Street, East Broadway ... and Los Angeles.
Founder JJ Brine has billed his space the Official Gallery of Satan. His previous storefront galleries featured items such as glow-in-the-dark paintings of Charles Manson and various performance-art theatrics. (Brine's gallery also made headlines for its vagina phone charger at Art Basel in Miami Beach in 2014.)
Opening night here is Aug. 18. Per the invite: "Featuring new installations by Crown Prince of Hell JJ Brine and sermons/performances by Ministers of The Vectorian Government."
But until then Brine seems to be adding items daily to the photogenic storefront.
And speaking of the devil, at least in landlord form, this space last housed Snack Dragon, which closed in October 2014 after a reported large rent increase courtesy of landlord Steve Croman.
Thanks to Stacie Joy for the photo earlier this month!
