The FDNY quickly had the situation under control… as a reader told us, a candle burning by the curtain and bed in a fifth-floor apartment in the rear of the building was to blame. No reports of injuries, though there is water damage down to the second floor in the rear apartments.

Via EVG reader Justin, who is at the scene: "Hard to know for sure, but it the FDNY seemed to have it under control quite well. Dozens of firefighters on the ground standing by, a couple on the ladder/bucket, and maybe only 10 on the roof. Seemed like routine work for them. It's mostly out now; no flames visible anymore."

The Williamsburg warehouse fire 4 days later

EVG reader Daniel Root was back in East River Park this afternoon ... where you can see FDNY crews still pumping water onto the smoldering ruins of CitiStorage, a record storage facility, in Williamsburg.

The fire broke out early Saturday morning at 5 N. 11th St. (at Kent Avenue).

Officials reportedly said this afternoon that it might be days before authorities had any information on how the fire started.

According to various published reports, such as NBC New York, the warehouse primarily stored records for more than 100 health care organizations and law firms, according to Recall Holdings, the parent company of CitiStorage.

The Times reported that charred medical records, court transcripts, legal letters, sonograms, bank checks and more — many marked confidential — were found around the neighborhood.

"They're like treasure maps, but with people's personal information all over them," Spencer Bergen, 24, said of the half-charred scraps that he said he had seen strewn around the Williamsburg neighborhood as far inland as Berry Street, several blocks from the warehouse.

The fire required more than 60 units and 275 firefighters to get under control.

The FDNY quickly contained the basement fire. Smoke from the blaze momentarily filled Box Kite Coffee at No. 115 with smoke.

"My basement was also completely covered in smoke. Not too much to report except for some minor damages from the fire crews to a few businesses on the block," Nardello told us.

[Updated] Fire this morning at 92 St. Mark's Place

The FDNY responded to a fire this morning just before 8 at 92 St. Mark's Place east of First Avenue.

Firefighters smashed the windows and cut away the window guards of the ground-floor apartment as they quickly had the situation under control.

We saw one soot-covered resident, a male in his late 20s or early 30s, wearing only shirts sit down next door on the steps to Physical Graffitea. A next-door neighbor brought him a blanket. Paramedics brought another woman out of the building and treated her on the scene for smoke inhalation, according to witnesses.

First Avenue was temporarily closed to northbound traffic at East Seventh Street. At this point, we do not know the cause of the fire or the extent of the damage. As far as we know right now, there were not any serious injuries.

Updated Aug. 18, 6 a.m.

The Post reports that the FDNY reduced two unconscious women from the fire. They are both "hospitalized in serious condition with smoke inhalation."

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, "but sources said investigators are focusing on the theory that smoking may have caused the couch to burst into flames."

Here's No. 92 early last evening...
