Good news: The Blarney Stone has reopened

Yesterday, in fact, after being closed for nearly three weeks...

...with a few modifications...

On Fulton Street in the Financial District.

Previously.

Good news. I've never really went to a Blarney Stone. I like the idea of them, but they all seem kinda grimy and Skid Row-ish. Is this place really that good?

Hi Brooks. Thanks for the comment. Well, it's pretty straightforward. A mix up of after-work mid-management types and construction workers and bored suburbanites dreading the PATH home. Everyone always seems to be waiting for something else. Not the final destination. A few off-duty hustlers during off-peak hours make things more interesting. Always the chance for a black eye. Serviceable food and fairly cheap drinks. Not on my A list but worth a stop, especially on the charmless Fulton Street.

The Blarney Stone served as sort of a punchline for one of my high school teachers, as a stand in for watering holes that were mainly homes for alcoholics.

This was back in the 1980s. I've never been to one, so really have no idea if that is or was accurate.
