In the new New York even the smokestacks have to be pretty
For some reason I've always liked those four smokestacks at the ConEd plant at 14th Street and the East River...I like the industrial look, I suppose...

Yeah, I've always loved those smokestacks as well. So much a part of the industrial power that used to define so much of this city. I still like walking down 14th towards the towers, with the brick faces of the Stuyvesant Co-op (or what are they now?) on one side.
In fact my first ever view of New York, coming down on the night train from Montreal (a train that no longer exists, sadly), was waking up two hours sleep and seeing a like power station rising up beside the river. It must have been up by Bronx, but it was just spectacular.

Ok, come on, you rusty curmudgeon. You do realize that paint serves a purpose, don't you?
I do prefer paint to aluminum siding.
