[Updated] As the Rite Aid turns (colors)
[July 7]
The Rite Aid on First Avenue at East Fifth Street continues to delight and amaze, though not really. First came the interior makeover, then the Rite Aiders turned their attention to the exterior, where workers painted it blue... before adding a garden theme.
And now!
EVG Senior First Avenue Rite Aid Correspondent Goggla reports that the East Fifth Street side is getting a design as well... too early to tell exactly what this design will be...
Any guesses before we see the final version?

A better view this morning via Goggla...

I hope a layer of protection will be placed on the murals so damage caused by taggers and similar idiots expressing their "creative right to free expression" can be removed...
I know its a Rite Aid and all but I kind of like that they're going outside the 'corporate guides and standards' and doing something a bit more creative.
Isn't the open 24hrs thing new too?
I still had to deal with a ridiculously long line, though. But the cashier actually apologized for the wait! I was shocked!
I like this. It looks to me like some prediluvian landscape, and all that's lacking is the images of triceratops, stegosauruses, T Rex's and the like.
Chains are awful, but there's just some little things like this that can do to ingratiate themselves to a community, or at least take the edge off their presence. I don't know why stores can't do the extremely little work involved to try to fit in just a little bit.
It'll be more pleasant to sit outside Three of Cups now
"EVG Senior First Avenue Rite Aid Correspondent" - thanks, Grieve. Updating my resume now...
It IS a forest primeval scene, & it's almost finished. 2 young men have been painting nonstop in the heat the last 2 days. I've had problems with Rite Aid but the new manager, Larry, is trying very hard to fix things & be responsive. If only this were a locally owned store, I would be behind it 100%. And btw, some of their prices are better than the 99c store next door.
