~Approximately $1300 per month or $325 per week ~This is an unfurnished "Single Room Occupancy" apartment (SRO). ~This is a SMALL, Private studio without a kitchen ~Heat, Hot Water, and Electricity are Included ~Private Bath ~This Unit Does NOT Have a Kitchen ~NOT FURNISHED ~No Pets Please ~Minimum lease of 3 months.
So, OK... probably not any kind of a long-term housing solution... And really — who needs a kitchen? Well, except it's nice to have that space to store your winter clothes.
And the next least-expensive apartment in the East Village based on Streeteasy's listings? A studio at 621 E. 11th St. for $1,595. (Includes a kitchen!) Which is a pretty good deal when you consider that the median price for a studio in the East Village is $2,585, based on Streeteasy's inventory.

I saw one of these apartments a few years ago when they were about 1K. the bathroom was freaking fantastic; all black and purple subway tiles and fluorescent light. It's my dream to live here someday with just a radio, a mattress and a rack of clothes. If only I wasn't too cheap to eat out 3 times a day......
You always can buy a mini fridge, no? This would me a raw vegan persons dream ;)
"SMALL" is realty industry-speak for really not big. Caveat emptor my friends.
I used my East Village kitchen maybe 10 times in my 20s during the aughts. This would have been perfect, but it's 2x what I was paying for a shared rent controlled sublet share back then.
ya think they could have at least replaced the carpet
When I was a kid we had to vacate our apartment for a few months due to a fire in the building, the landlord put us up in an SRO in 10th st [today's landlords would wish you dead of course] and the place was way bigger than this... No kitchen either, but never underestimate a hispanic ladies ability to cook with just hotplates and a toaster oven.
