9th Street residential garage reveal
The plywood and sidewalk bridge have finally been cleared at 327 E. Ninth St., providing a full reveal of Icon Realty’s six-story, two-unit residential building nearly four years now in the making....
We haven't seen any listings yet for the two units at this site of a former parking lot here between First Avenue and Second Avenue.

Holy cow, a lovely building that reflects its neighbors going up in the East Village instead of a dreary glass box? Please, someone pass a law making the architect of this gem the go-to designer for anything else built here!

A quite handsome-looking building indeed. I don't even mind the garage that much; it reflects several such in the West Village. Why can't all of the new builds look this good?
. This is the east villages first McMansion and a 1990's era looking one at that. Married to the mob meets Frank Oz's The Stepford Wives.
It is indeed a McMansion courtesy of Icon. That is the company that also bought the five buildings to the east and added an additional floor to each. The tenants loved the years of construction overhead.
Detail on the exterior are out of place with the surrounding tenements and completely out of scale on a twenty foot wide building. 79 variances were purchased that cover 158 Saturdays of after hour work. Then there's the night time work that took place without a permit. Violations: 13 DOB, ECB 16.
Over four years of noisy construction for a building that will have two apartments for ultra-wealthy tenants.
It's Icon, what did anyone expect? Their track record is well known and I wouldn't be investing in anything they "built" or "renovated".
Are the units divided vertically or horizontally? Can't be vertical or who gets the top floor? I'm confused.

It appears to be full floor splits.
The backyard is split as well. First floor has a grade level yard on the north end accessed by a narrow path from a 1st floor door. Basement has direct access at basement level into a yard pit. The fence surrounding the back yard pit is composed of glass panels. That's for all you glass haters.
Oh yeah, each upper floor has a very large balcony.
