Signage is for the Pineapple Club over at 509 E. Sixth St. between Avenue A and Avenue B...
As previously noted, the Pineapple Club will be bringing American Polynesian cuisine to the former Out East space.
There's a teaser site up now for the two-level bar-restaurant. A message notes that the new website will be live in less than 12 days.
Meanwhile, the Pineapple Club's Facebook page describes the venture this way:
The ultimate East Village Restaurant & Signature Cocktail Bar experience. Elevated Rush tropical vibes, food & signature cocktail creations.
Out East went dark in December 2017 after eight months serving a seafood-centric menu from the proprietors behind places like Beauty & Essex and Stanton Social.

It's a big space but a bit off the beaten path, and the space is large so the rent must be high, too high for places to survive here.
Hopefully this isn't more rice/noodles food. I'd love to try polynesian but honestly the high amount of Asian cuisine overload in the neighborhood has been making seek eats elsewhere. Looking forward to giving the menu a peak in the near future!
Why are East Village restaurant-bars always described as "ultimate"?
two-level bar-restaurant...the ultimate East Village Restaurant & Signature Cocktail Bar experience. They're bringing more of the alcohol experience more so than the American Polynesian cuisine.
Just be thankful they're not described as "immersive"...yet.
does anyone remember the place that first opened in this space... maybe late 90s or 2001-2007?!? it was the first “high end” restaurant on the block, pre dates Eastern Bloc I think
I’m trying to rack my brain as I lived DIRECTLY behind this building on E7th street from 2007-2011 and remembered peering off the roof into the atrium of this place. did you ever figure it out?
