Papilles, an underrated and well-regarded French restaurant, recently closed its doors at 127 E. Seventh St. between Avenue A and First Avenue.
As far as we know, there wasn't any closing announcement, neither on the restaurant's Instagram account nor its now-deactivated website. (Updated: See the comments. They are relocating to North Salem, N.Y.)
Hiring signage is now up for the establishment taking over the small space — De Radda, described as an Italian and Argentinian restaurant ...
Papilles opened in June 2018.

Dear customers,
We are writing to let you know that Papilles has closed its doors on February 19th. It has been a life-changing, beautiful experience for all of us who worked here for the past 4 years. We wanted to thank each and every one of you for coming to Papilles. We will cherish the memories of your festive dinners, the romantic ones, the family and friends gathering, and all the other joyful moments spend here at Papilles for the rest of our lives.
So why are we closing you might wonder? Well, that’s when the good news comes in. We are moving to North Salem where we spend the last 18 months building a very special place and we can’t wait to welcome you there soon. We plan on opening this summer and you will know all about it when the time comes.
In the meantime, know that you have made our first experience as restaurant owners unbelievable and we are so grateful for it.

This was a great place. Hard to make a restaurant that size work. But a lot of folks must have got that email. There was a second email about selling their wine inventory, and it was all gone before I had a chance.
