  1. It's impossible to actually play chess at those tables like people did back in the day. I wonder if the city might start a program offering chess lessons certain hours and paying players to spend a few hours each day playing the game with people. If the area isn't going to be used for chess, then it is time to repurpose that area into something that people can use.
