On Nov. 22, Nick Bodor (the Library, Cake Shop, etc.) shared with us his plans for Baker Falls at 101 Avenue A. The old Pyramid will also feature a collaboration with the Knitting Factory.

The second iteration of the Pyramid Club comes to an end on Oct. 31.
We've heard rumors from multiple sources about a pending closure this month here at 101 Avenue A between Sixth Street and Seventh Street.
Pyramid management made it official with a late-night Instagram post:
After many glorious years of being part of the East Village community, we will be closing our doors at the end of the month after our final party.Thank you so very much to all of our new and longtime patrons and the promoters and DJs who have hosted events at The Pyramid Club. And a heartfelt thank you to The Pyramid Club team that has kept everything running smoothly and kept everyone safe. We are appreciative and grateful to all of you, your support means the world to us. We have loved serving the community and providing a space for all to be free and expressive through the arts, fashion, music and dance. The wonderful memories and friendships we have made will be cherished forever. Spread the love and keep on dancing...
A quick recap of what has happened here. The iconic East Village venue shuttered its doors in the spring of 2021 after 41 years in business, as we first reported. The club had been closed since March 7, 2020, at the onset of the pandemic.
However, the club made a comeback at the end of July 2021, opening on weekend nights in subsequent months.
As we understood it, the daughter of the longtime club owners, who are also the building's landlord, was running the show with a few familiar faces who previously worked at the venue.

Oh come on man...really y'all could not make it work? Well thanks for trying ----another EV bummer
9:47, did y'all even go there recently?
Nothing lasts forever.
Times changes and tastes change with them. That's life.
Forty one years is quite an accomplishment non-the-less.
So sad!!! I was there on Saturday and it was packed - upstairs and downstairs. Too bad they can't make it work. Hopefully someone else is able to step in!
What CBGB's is to 70's early Punk and New Wave, the Pyramid is recognized as the birthplace of modern day drag, the salon for many of the 80's greatest artist, visual and performance. It will most likely become a gourmet hot dog restaurant or whatever the kids are into at the moment.
Since it says the person running the club is the daughter of the people who OWN the building, presumably it's not a landlord/tenant dispute.
I passed by The Pyramid many, many times. t was a happening place.
thanks for the many wonderful memories.
this is truly something that destroys the culture of the neighborhood. this space should be landmarked and have someone with experience in nightlife running it. i have to say both Ave A. and 1st Ave have gone way, way down since covid-tons of filthy sheds, weed dispensaries, trash on the streets and junkies in the park. it needs to be hosed down!
Bring back odessa and the nightlife that made it vibrant. LOL no one who lives in the neighborhood long term is going to any of the new places...that's why they close quickly because it's nothing anyone wants. Everyone will see in a couple of years.
Sigh. Exhausting news. With the right manager and team, Pyramid could've easily continued to live on and thrive, though who knows what'll happen to it now. Something soulless and instantly dated, I guess. Korean hot dog place? Too-bright bar designed for TikTok? Blank Street Coffee?
This is so sad. I loved dancing my groove off, especially, when I had a bad week. We need a dance space right now. Healthy and fun!!!!
It's a sad commentary on the current state of New York that you cannot make a dance place profitable on Ave. A. So much creativity silenced.
1:36 you didn't get the memo?, CB3 and real estate interests want all long term resident of the neighborhood to leave immediately to make way for the 100% rental living or Million+ condos along with bars, over priced restaurants and sheds so that the woo-hoo wonderland they envision for our once vital and thriving working class enclave brimming with art, music, culture can really take hold
Ge that the Pyramid shutting isn't just a result of those policies and hopefully Club Cumming will continue to hold the line but yea bit by bit all the flavor is getting drained out of the delicious hot pot of the LES and east village
Or the Knitting Factory...
Nico lived on the second floor in the late 1960s when she was with the Velvet Underground.

Interesting, I wonder if this has anything to do with the Knitting Factory opening in the East Village. I've been trying to figure out where the hell they'd do it, and the only other spot that makes sense without a tone of construction would be the old Brownies.
it's being taken over by the Knitting Factory. Between this and the Highline Ballroom getting ready to re-p[en I guess Manhattan is the new Manhattan.
knitting factory makes most sense since they’ve announced they are moving back but nothing at cb3 yet
This is precisely why i sublet to gen z and didn’t sell my place. This town needs an enema- Jack Nicholson
A local DJ friend who’s been spinning there recently was told the space has already been rented and will remain a music venue. Knitting Factory very likely.
Im DJ Transaction. I have been the Saturday night resident DJ here since late September 2021. Playing here 7 hours+ every week, I grown to love the culture, the venue, and the people. Come celebrate with me one last time this Saturday night for our grand finale Halloween event. If you like to see some latest pyramidclub videos, go to instagram and search me djtransaction
Very sad about this.
