CC Cyclery closes 13th Street shop to go mobile

Photos by Stacie Joy

CC Cyclery closed up shop late last week at 530 E. 13th St. between Avenue A and Avenue B...
In an Instagram post, Jeff Underwood, the founder and chief mechanic, announced that while the shop is now closed: "There will be a mobile version SOON!"

In a way, it's a return to Underwood's roots... as he started the bike-repair business on the sidewalk along Avenue A.

Been there and done that. Being good at something, then helping out friends, next friends of friends. Now your home if full of stuff and you need a space to store this stuff in. But If I'm paying for a storage unit already I might as well just get this cheap small street front space. Wow, it's working and Im making some money. I need to hire someone to help me out and we need more inventory to justify this space that I have but its too small and I could make twice as much with twice as much space at a better location. And then one midnight as you are staring at all the bills you come to the conclusions that at the end of the day you made the same amount of money when you were just doing this for friends without all the hassle and stress of being a business owner

First Ludlow Garage and now this! My two go-to favorite repair and maintenance shops for all my wheels are gone!! Feet don't fail me now!

Jeff has had a very personal loss recently. People will miss the store and the sweetness it provided and the help and kindness.

These guys were great and will be missed. Took my bikes there for years.

Wait was he the guy who fixed bikes on the curb at 10th and A by the Boys Club?

Or maybe the guy who - some years back - set up a mobile bike repair place at 7th and A, by the clash mural?
