Workers this afternoon were seen removing the Mount Sinai Beth Israel sign from atop the now-closed hospital on 16th Street and First Avenue... one day after the facility shut down for good.
NYU Langone is nearby. They don't seem to like patients who are on Medicaid as most of their doctors don't accept it. It's another tale of classism in NYC. I'm moving to Europe soon where hospitals aren't converted to condos.

I'm still shaking my damn head; how can we afford to lose another hospital?

This is a betrayal by our elected officals.
They sure wasted no time now comes the demolition and construction of new luxury apartments that no one I know in the LES/EV can afford.
Operative word: yet.
