The Starbucks on Avenue A and St. Mark's Place closes permanently tomorrow

Tomorrow (Saturday) is the last day for the Starbucks outpost on the NW corner of Avenue A and St. Mark's Place.

Yesterday, Starbucks announced plans to close 250 North American locations, its second major round of cuts under CEO Brian Niccol ... cuts that KO'd the outpost on First Avenue and 13th Street.

The company said the locations targeted are underperforming financially or don't meet its standards for the customer and employee experience. 

This outpost opened in August 2017, and some residents saw it as (another) dagger in the heart of the East Village. 

With this closure, ONE Starbucks remains in the East Village — First Avenue at Third Street.
