Sources say Bennett was a passenger in a red Dodge Durango driven by a fellow off-duty officer, who lost control and ran off the roadway. The SUV flipped and burst into flames.

On my ride to work I see the police light up a woman who biked past the crosswalk to the corner. They gave her a red light ticket even though she did not cross through the intersection.
The precinct’s crime rate is down 27 percent over all for the month. Specifically, robberies are down 57 percent, felony assaults are down 46 percent, burglaries are down 25 percent, and grand larceny is down 24 percent. The only spike, said Venice, was stolen vehicles — five this month, compared with only one during the previous month. The precinct’s crime rate is down 5 percent over all for the year.
Most of the crimes in the precinct have been grand larceny — the result of people leaving their property (often credit cards) somewhere and it being stolen.

"There was one in the yard of 237 E. 5th St. on Saturday and neighbors from various abutting buildings could be seen hanging out of their window entreating the revelers to quiet down. Police were called and did not show up ... the whole thing finally was shut down when someone hosed the party down."
Pugh didn’t even know about the attack until one of his friends showed him the chilling surveillance footage over the weekend and said the attacker looked like him.
"When he saw the video, it killed him inside. It hurt him. He was crying all weekend. He knows it's him. He just didn't remember," Pugh-Douglas said.
As the victim lay dying on the sidewalk, Pugh allegedly continued down the street and yelled, “This is my block,” police said.

Though the site uses data available on the NYPD website, it was developed by Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications.
The suspect is believed to be in his 30s or 40s, weighs about 240 pounds, and is approximately 5-foot-9-inches tall, police said. He is described as having black hair with grey streaks, cops said. He was last seen wearing blue long-sleeve shirt, dark jeans, and white metal wire-rimmed glasses.
