An EVG reader submitted this find, spotted yesterday on Stanton Street... complete with a remora tree attached. We're checking the archives to see if this is the latest that we've documented a discarded Christmas tree...

Via a reader... someone making room for more Halloween decorations here on 11th Street near First Avenue ...

Oct. 16

EVG reader V.H. McKenzie spotted this Winter Wonderland just-needs-a-good-home (and some water) tree outside the neighborhood on Fifth Avenue and 12th Street tonight... still, it's noteworthy given how easily it would have been for someone to just keep this tree another two-plus months until Dec. 25.

Carol from East 5th Street found what appears to be a Christmas/holiday tree... freshly plucked from the Earth (there's still some green on it)...on Fifth Street between First Avenue and Second Avenue...



Why discard this today? Perhaps the balmy temperatures made it ideal for spring/summer cleaning...

Yay I win! Sure, there isn't any authentication or whatever on this lush beauty spotted on Lafayette near Astor Place.

But we can discuss when I return from the Grand Prize Trip!

Dave on 7th spotted the above on East Sixth Street today... what was, most likely, or not, a Christmas (holiday) tree. "The branches are in the bags," Dave on 7th hopefully pointed out.

Fine. But where is the verification/authentification/random -tion word to prove that this is actually from today?

OK, fine. But where is the stump and the bags with the remains of the Christmas (holiday) tree? We called him out on this, said something like FAIL, though in a jovial way that may have been misinterpreted via email.

"Actually, not a fail. Note the same car across the street."

Damn, anyway. I meant to do a better job of tracking the first signs of the December holidays. I forgot! This was at a Duane Reade yesterday. I'm sure stores have had holiday doodads up for much longer. Anyway, for me, it doesn't seem like the holidays until the trees go up at PC Richard & Son on 14th Street. Should be any day now!
