The transplant was a success? A doctor recommend Halloween procedure at Exit9

Halloween evening also included a return performance of the Exit9 Gift Emporium's window theater, in which passersby were treated to "an insane doctor’s gruesome medical malpractice" ... Stacie Joy took in the performance...

The devil in the details: 'Satanic Panic' at the Anthology Film Archives

If you're looking for some more legit Halloween-related movie fare, then look no further than this upcoming series at the Anthology Film Archives.

Here's more about The Devil Probably: A Century of Satanic Panic:

With so many treating Halloween as nothing more meaningful than an excuse to party till dawn in a half-assed superhero costume, it’s safe to say the holiday has drifted far from its historical roots.

Nevertheless, by virtue of its relationship to various traditions honoring the dead – as well as to ancient festivals marking the onset of the “darker half” of the year, a transitional moment when the boundaries between the worlds of the living and the dead were thought to become porous – Halloween also conjures up images of the underworld, and by association, notions of Satan, witchcraft, and other dark forces.

Films include Roger Corman's "The Masque of Red Death," Mario Bava's "Black Sunday" and George Miller's "The Witches of Eastwick." The series runs tonight through Nov. 8 at the Anthology on Second Avenue and Second Street. Find more details at this link.

Doctor's orders: Halloween night at Exit9 on Avenue A

The folks at the Exit9 Gift Emporium at 51 Avenue A between Third Street and Fourth Street are once again hosting a Halloween night Window Theater.

Here's what to expect via the EVG inbox...

THE DOCTOR IS IN…SANE!

Gore-hungry East Village tricksters (and their parents) will bear witness to an insane doctor’s gruesome medical malpractice. On Oct. 31, the window of Exit9 Gift Emporium will be converted into an operating amphitheater as the demented doctor performs live surgery before your very eyes.

The doctor will start seeing patients at 7 p.m. on Halloween. Revisit the scene from 2015 right here.

In case you are feeling the spirit of Halloween this August

The Spirit Halloween pop-up shop is now open on Third Avenue between 13th Street and 14th Street (just like last year).

What to expect inside the shop? The Spirit website has everything for you to not look like your favorite "Stranger Things" characters. For instance:

Thanks to Goggla for sharing the Spirit photo!

Tuesday's parting shot

Outside Search & Destroy on St. Mark's Place this morning...

La Plaza hosting Haunted Adventure Garden and Rat Race Maze

This is happening tomorrow (Halloween!) from 2-8 p.m. at La Plaza Cultural on the southwest corner of Ninth Street and Avenue C.

Via the EVG inbox...

For 365 days a year, rats are the stuff nightmares are made of for New Yorkers. The theme at this year's spooky Halloween adventure garden is Rats, because whether they rule or horrify, they're a part of living in NYC.

At this costume party, bring your whole family, as there'll be mystic fortune telling, face painting and thrilling coffin rides. At 5:30 pm there will be live music by the Rude Mechanical Orchestra.

Oh! And try not to get trapped in the Rat Race Maze, where we are trying to teach people to stay away from the corporate rat race.

... and I hope they leave this up year-round...

You may now buy your Halloween costume this August

The pop-up Spirit Halloween store is now open (and now hiring, still) on Third Avenue here between 13th Street and 14th Street (in the former Ricky's space) ...

The place was closed at the time of these photos... so we can only do a little window shopping through the rolldown gate...
