Holiday pop-up bar season underway with arrival of Miracle on Ninth Street

This is the sixth year for Miracle on Ninth Street, which "embraces the Christmas spirit with holiday inspired cocktails created by Nicolas de Soto. The winter wonderland experience is complete with an abundance of garlands, Christmas lights, ribbons, candles and tinsel and Christmas Carols galore," per Facebook.

Before the holidays, this space is the Cabinet Bar, the latest entry in the Cocktail Kingdom kingdom, which includes Mace and Boilermaker.

Mace moved from here to a larger space at 505 E. 12th St. between Avenue A and Avenue B earlier this year. This former Double Wide space will gave its own holiday pop up starting next week.

For the fifth consecutive year, Miracle on Ninth Street — a Christmas inspired pop-up bar — opened inside Mace, the cocktail bar at 649 E. Ninth St. at Avenue C.

Mace owner Greg Boehm is behind the holiday pop ups, an empire that has grown to 80-plus worldwide.

And as 12th Street residents learned yesterday, there's also a Miracle on 12th Street that just popped up for business between Avenue A and Avenue B in the former Double Wide space...



Boehm also took over the lease from Double Wide, which closed back in March after seven years in business.

Apparently the address will serve as a pop up before the planned cocktail lounge opens. Unlike the Ninth Street location, the 12th Street bar will take reservations for five people or more during the holiday.

Said one local resident: "I feel duped as a neighbor. They sold this as an upscale cocktail bar that was going to be quiet as opposed to the loud shit show that we had to endure when it was Double Wide."

And if you need another holiday pop-up choice, Boehm's bar Boilermaker on First Avenue at First Street is now a tiki-themed Sippin' Santa (as it has been this time of year since 2015).

For the fourth consecutive year, Miracle on Ninth Street — a Christmas inspired pop-up bar — is open for the season (as of yesterday) inside Mace, the cocktail bar at 649 E. Ninth St. at Avenue C.

Per Facebook:

Escape the cold and soak in the festive atmosphere while enjoying a glass of Jingle Ball Nog or a Christmapolitan.

Miracle on Ninth is open 11/24 through 12/24. The pop-up ... will be open Mon-Fri 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. & Sat-Sun 2 p.m. to 2 a.m.

This has happened at the former Louis 649 space at 649 E. Ninth St. near Avenue C: A pop-up bar for the holiday.

Per Time Out:

" ...you can order The Grinch (rum, coconut butter) and Three Wise Men (Calvados, frankincense) in a hideaway decked out with kitschy decorations you’d find in your grandparents’ wood-paneled basement, including tinsel garlands, plaid table cloths and glittery globe ornaments. In addition to enough Christmas and Hanukkkah garb to put the Griswolds to shame, the bar also offers light snacks just like mom used to make (think Santa’s cookies — coyly paired with a shot of milk punch — and Chex mix)."

After the holiday the space will yield to a new bar called Mace run by the folks behind Boilermaker on First Avenue.
