Tomorrow, Saturday, March 20 at 2 p.m. we are having a second and final event dedicated to the 17th issue of the LiVE MAG! neighborhood journal of art and poetry. Join us to hear literary masters of revolutionary charm — Patricia Spears Jones, Paco Marquez, Larry Sawyer, Lydia Cortés, Bob Heman. Your hosts, Jeffrey Cyphers Wright (Uncle Fun) and Ilka Scobie, guarantee to make it an erudite, witty and refreshingly impromptu afternoon.

The Tompkins Square Library branch on 10th Street between Avenue A and Avenue B continues to offer free virtual programming... here are two events of possible interest this coming weekend (descriptions via the NYPL) ... 

• Saturday, March 6 at 2 p.m.: A Downtown State of Mind celebrating the launch of LiVE MAG! #17  The CoViVid Issue. Zoom Afternoon of Art, Poetry and Inspired Palavar. Jeffrey Cyphers Wright has been publishing art and poetry for decades. His vision has a decidedly downtown slant and the new issue of Live Mag! is true to its East Village roots.

• Sunday, March 7 at 2 p.m.: Lower East Side Art + Activism Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon. Help the Museum of Reclaimed Urban Space (MoRUS), Interference Archive, Tompkins Square Library and Wikimedia NYC expand Wikipedia's coverage of the Lower East Side at the Museum's second virtual Wikipedia edit-a-thon! 

In keeping with the MoRUS mission to preserve the history of grassroots activism and promote community-based urban ecologies, we will expand Wikipedia's coverage of the community gardens, community centers, grassroots movements, galleries, clubs, squats and homesteads that have contributed to our neighborhood's oversized cultural impact. No experience needed; we'll help you create a Wikipedia account and teach you how to edit content. The edit-a-thon runs from 2-4 p.m., but you can stay for as long (or as short) as you like.

Like other NYPL branches, the Tompkins Square Library is currently only open for grab-and-go service from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. 

New York residents ages 13 and older can get a digital library card through the NYPL's online card application and gain access to an array of digital resources.

Your Book Swap Sunday reminder for Sunday

A remnidner that there will be another Book Swap Sunday (tomorrow!) outside the Tompkins Square Library branch on 10th Street between Avenue A and Avenue B... from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

A post-Christmas Book Swap Sunday

Perhaps you received a book or two as a Christmas gift... and need to make some room on your shelf... then consider dropping by the Tompkins Square Library branch on 10th Street between Avenue A and Avenue B where today marks another Book Swap Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

As the organizers said: "Let's share our used books to help us get through this pandemic together. Leave your donations, and take home some others. Reading is a safe survival tactic!"

Today marks another Book Swap Sunday outside the Tompkins Square Library branch on 10th Street between Avenue A and Avenue B... from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

By the way, this is not an officially sanctioned NYPL event — the location just happens to be outside the Tompkins Library branch.

Two events to note this week happening at the Tompkins Square Library, currently open for limited Grab and Go service on 10th Street between Avenue A and Avenue B... via the EVG inbox...

• Tuesday Oct. 27 at 1 p.m.: Virtual Walking Tour: Macabre East Village 

Join library manager Corinne Neary and local photographer Michael Paul to explore some dark history of Tompkins Square Park and surrounding neighborhood. Murder, kidnapping, the living dead, rituals, cannibals, insanity, spirits and ghosts!

• Thursday Oct. 29 at 7 p.m.: Online discussion with Frederic Tuten 

Celebrated author Frederic Tuten will be discussing his memoir "My Young Life," inspirations, dreams and plans. Frederic is a long-time East Villager and will tell us how the neighborhood influenced his works. Also, we will listen about his years spent in Europe and South America, and his passion for art.
