Today in photos of Vincent D'Onofrio

Former Christodora House resident Vincent D'Onofrio was back in the neighborhood today filming a scene for "Law & Order: Criminal Intent." (Melanie has more shots here.)

Why there was a hot dog vendor in Tompkins Square Park yesterday

"Blue Bloods," the CBS police drama starring Thomas Magnum, filmed in Tompkins Square Park yesterday ... in a scene requiring a hot dog vendor...

... and here are a few other shots courtesy of Bobby Williams...

No word on any Tom Selleck sightings.

'2 Days' this afternoon on Avenue A

"2 Days in New York" filming today at the Odessa Cafe on Avenue A... Several people spotted Vincent Gallo on the scene. Apparently he has a cameo or something. While leaving, he was heard saying, "that was easy." And he may have had some free time to rag on Kanye West.

The crew has been filming all over the place... BoweryBoogie has more on it here. The comedy is written and directed by Julie Delpy... and features Delpy and Chris Rock in a sequel to "2 Days in Paris."

In which Cat Sitter watches Keanu Reeves get chased by extras down 11th Street

A dispatch from our friend Cat Sitter in the City ... who's trying to get some work down while "Generation Um" films nearby:

I keep getting distracted by the sound of someone yelling instructions and people cheering. I just went outside to see what's going on, and I found myself standing about six feet away from Keanu Reeves on the corner of 11th Street and Avenue A. Dressed all in black, he is tall and handsome as you would expect.

I didn't want to snap a photo of him because I felt like I would be invading his privacy (I wouldn't fare so well as a paparazzo, would I?), so I took a picture of the other people in the scene with him. They were all dressed like cowboys and cowgirls, and they kept chasing Keanu out of the parking lot and down 11th Street.

But will Keanu join Cat Sitter for lunch and CNBC?

The Blake Lively photos that I could have taken yesterday in the East Village if....

...I had a really BIG lens and hung out with the paparazzi for hours ...or vice versa!

Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley, Chace Crawford, Ed Westwick, Taylor Momsen

Woo! Go Search Engines!

OK, OK... the "Gossip Girl" filming continued at 10th Street and Avenue A this evening...

...a Halloween scene, so everyone wore masks... so you couldn't even tell the difference between, say, Leighton Meester and Penn Badgley, though I think his calves are smoother...

...and even the presence of a "Gossip Girl" truck didn't make Table 12's sidewalk cafe any more appealing...

Waiting for Blake Lively and stuff

The 'Gossip Girl' shoot is under way....

St. Nicholas of Myra on 10th Street and Avenue A....

...is being transformed into a Halloween party scene...

After 10 dull minutes, a PA shooed gawkers along, noting that the cast hasn't even arrived just yet....

...which is true, since they're all in my apartment now frontloading... Gotta go — think that Westwick just clogged the shitter.

Stepping it up tomorrow -- in 3D, no less

By the time you read this, we'll likely be first in line to see the first screening tomorrow of "Step Up 3D." Or, as we like to say,"Step Up Fuckin' 3D!"

But seriously, we are slightly curious about the movie only because of the extensive filming in the East Village last May and June. (Surely, you remember one of our 34,987 posts on it, right? If not... well... here... here... here... and maybe here.)

This two minutes is likely enough for us anyway...

Note to self: Do some sit-ups.

Movie about bicycle messenger currently blocking bike lane

The "Premium Rush" shoot is getting under way on Avenue A this afternoon... thanks to EV Grieve reader Liam for these photos...

Doesn't the crew know what we've been discussing here?

Previously on EV Grieve:
Rush Hours

Rush hours

Today, "Premium Rush" follows in the fine tradition of "The Smurfs Movie" and "Step Up 3-D" — movies that filmed scenes on Seventh Street and Avenue A of late...

Looks to be a big production....

And the plot:

An action story set in New York City, where a bike messenger picks up a package at Columbia University and subsequently catches the attention of a dirty cop.

Bike messenger?! Why aren't they filming on those new bike lanes on First Avenue and Second Avenue?!

Joseph Gordon-Levitt has the lead... in the movie directed by the guy who wrote the screenplays for the "Jurassic Park" blockbusters.

Kind of makes me want to watch "Quciksilver" again.

Blue vs. White on Avenue A

EV Grieve reader Shawn Chittle passed along this link earlier today... he has a good vantage point to see the dueling productions of "The Smurfs Movie" and "White Collar" ....

The Smurfs are coming back to the East Village! The Smurfs are coming back to the East Village! The Smurfs are coming back to the East Village!

On Monday, May 24. Thanks for the heads up so that I have time to make more of these!

We hear that the storylines will include... Gutsy Smurf walking into Nevada Smith's on Day 1 of the World Cup and asking if they'll turn on the replay of the previous evening's Mets game... Smurfette getting drunk and talking louder and faster whenever she steps outside Heathers for a cigarette break ... and Grouchy Smurf starting a blog...

"East Fifth Bliss" on Seventh Street

Earlier today, the "East Fifth Bliss" crew did a little filming on Avenue B (and in the Park?)... Melanie got her picture taken with "Bliss" lead Michael C. Hall.

With a rental truck and maybe a van or so... what a difference between this and the "Smurfs" logjam from Thursday...where tractor-trailers lined Avenue A for blocks... (And we had "Smurfs" reports from all over the City, like this one from Midtown Lunch.) And we're still getting reader mail about the "Smurfs" shoot, like the amused residents who were told to wait for several minutes... and when they were "released," the PA said robotically, "Sorry for the inconvenience. We will only be here for two more hours."

It was 11 p.m.

A lot of fuss to watch Neil Patrick Harris exit a cab for 10 seconds

I was one of the many fools people who stood around for a bit to witness the filming of "The Smurfs Movie" on Seventh Street between Avenue A and First Avenue tonight... we were all basically there to watch Neil Patrick Harris exit a cab and enter 111 Seventh St. carrying a box. Then they did it again... and again...

And this is a huge production... with trucks and equipment on Avenue A from Sixth Street up to 11th Street...

On Seventh Street tomorrow: Smurfs, Ted Danson, craft services

Yesterday, smurfers placed more signs around the neighborhood about filming "The Smurf Movie" here in Mushroom Village...

P.S.

Thursday promises to be a busy day for filming on Seventh Street... up on the next block, "Bored to Death," starring Ted Danson and Jason Schwartzman, will be setting up shop...

Smurfs up: Mushrooms, blue creatures in store for Thursday?

Signs went up yesterday on parts of Seventh Street and Avenue A for...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Here's the story from the official news release:

Audiences everywhere are in for a Smurfy good time as the Smurfs make their first 3D trip to the big screen. When the evil wizard Gargamel chases the tiny blue Smurfs out of their village, they tumble from their magical world and into ours -- in fact, smack dab in the middle of Central Park. Just three apples high and stuck in the Big Apple, the Smurfs must find a way to get back to their village before Gargamel tracks them down. The film is set for release August 3, 2011.

Neil Patrick Harris, Jayma Mays, Sofia Vergara, and Hank Azaria star on camera opposite an all-star voice cast. Anton Yelchin will play Clumsy Smurf; comedy legend Jonathan Winters, who voiced roles in the “Smurfs” television series, will voice Papa Smurf; Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Katy Perry will play Smurfette; Alan Cumming will play Gutsy Smurf; “SNL’s” Fred Armisen will voice Brainy Smurf; and George Lopez will play Grouchy Smurf.

Hmm... the Smurfs must find a way back to their village before Gargamel tracks them down? I think this plot might be more interesting:

The Smurfs are mistakenly accused of killing a big time gang leader named Cyrus. Soon they have every gang in the city out to get revenge. The Smurfs must make their way from one end of New York to their turf on the other side of the city.

Seriously, though... is the East Village going to stand in for Smurf Village? Do they run into Fratty Smurf or Bachelorette Party Smurf?

Oh, and P.S.

What's red, white, and blue, and has stars?

Papa Smurf after falling down the stairs, drunk.
