Last looks at today's 'Law & Order' shoot

Photos by Derek Berg

As we've been mentioning (here and here and here), "Law & Order" is back with new episodes after a 10-plus year absence from NBC (obvi reruns play every few minutes on cable).

Anyway! Today's filming action along Seventh Street between Avenue A and Avenue B saw the return of Anthony Anderson's Det. Bernard and newcomer Jeffrey Donovan as Det. Frank Cosgrove ...
The two were seen checking out a crime scene in a van...
"Law & Order" returns with its first episode on Feb. 24.

'Law & Order' prep walk

"Law & Order" came to town the East Village today.

As noted yesterday, crews erected a tent city ahead of filming in Tompkins Square Park, not all that different from the actual tent city the city discarded in the same area this past November

EVG correspondent Steven shared these pics from earlier today... as some film vehicles were put into place on Seventh Street between Avenue A and Avenue B... (maybe this will be an episode about illegal van AirBnBs?) ...
... of course, we weren't the only media outlet here... those pesky SOBs from WXDV were on hand along with a crew from 1NYC...
... a crew member also created a makeshift memorial inside Tompkins Square Park for a scene...
The original "Law & Order" debuts on NBC on Feb. 24. No word when this episode will air.

This 21st season will once again feature Sam Waterston as Jack McCoy ... new cast members include Odelya Halevi as ADA Samantha Maroun, Jeffrey Donovan as Det. Frank Cosgrove and Hugh Dancy as senior prosecutorial assistant Nathan Price.

The Emmy-winning series originally ran for 20 seasons on NBC, from 1990 to 2010, with 456 episodes. The franchise has been a regular presence on EV streets during its run.

Stay tuned for a few more pics!

'Law & Order' makes triumphant return to East Village streets

If you've watched even 15 minutes of the Winter Olympics on NBC, then you've likely seen a promo for the return of the original "Law & Order" on Feb. 24.

Expect to see part of the East Village in the upcoming season. The L&O crew will be setting up for a shoot on Tuesday along Avenue A and various side streets between 10th and Third, per the posted signage. (And vehicles need to be moved tomorrow by 3. Photo below by Steven.)

And for some nostalgia, here's the intro to the "Law & Order" pilot episode from 1990...

Reader report: NYPD makes real arrest while 'Law & Order' is filming nearby on Avenue A

As noted earlier today, crews for "Law & Order: SVU" are filming along Avenue A today... roughly from East Fourth Street to St. Mark's Place...

Meanwhile, a reader noted that the NYPD — with at least 12 officers on the scene — arrested two men in a car during the middle of all this ... on Avenue A between East Fifth Street and East Sixth Street...

As the reader noted: "Weirdly, 'SVU' is filming as well but this seems like a real arrest — no cameras."

Avenue A on high alert for Ice-T sightings

That one of shows in the "Law & Order" family is filming around here was never really all that newsworthy... given how often they'd film around here through the years.

However, I am noting the fact that "Law & Order: SVU" is filming along Avenue A and Tompkins Square Park... mostly because I had no idea that NBC was still creating new episodes. (I thought the show only existed to help the USA Network fill 14 hours of programming a day.) But "SVU" is in its 17th season. So keep an eye out for cast members Mariska Hargitay and Ice-T today.

Now! Flashback to September 2011 when "SVU" filmed a scene at Sunny & Annie's on Avenue B...

And NBC has picked up the show for season No. 18, as Ice-T learned yesterday...

'Law & Order: Special Victims Unit' filming on East 14th Street today...

And now, photos of Ice-T in front of Sunny & Annie's

Today, crews from "Law & Order: SVU" were filming around the neighborhood... in front of Sunny & Annie's on Avenue B at Sixth Street in particular...Not exactly newsworthy given how many times something from the "Law & Order" franchise filmed around here through the years...

Still! It gave us a chance to add to our Ice-T collection... courtesy of Bobby Williams...

East Village subs for Inwood in 'Law and Order' shoot

Filming for "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" continued yesterday inside (and outside!) Vazac's on Avenue B and Seventh Street... Not really newsworthy given the various "Law & Order" shows having been filming around here for nearly 20 years...

However, it did seem as if the cast members — especially former Christodora House resident and L&O cast member Vincent D'Onofrio — were especially accessible, posing for many photos...

...and look at the temporary street signs on Seventh And B...

A meaty role

"Law & Order Criminal Intent" is casting for an upcoming episode about the underground goth scene. Among the roles being filled:

[BLOOD WHORE] 30s. Male. Found in the shadows of a park in the East Village after dark peddling blood. He’s the man in charge of this seedy operation. When the detectives meet him on his turf to ask some questions, he is nonchalant and seems to enjoy messing with them. (1 scene)

Feel free to submit your jokes about real-estate agents and developers...

Where you can hang out with the actor who did the voice in five episodes of "Captain Planet and the Planeteers" today and tomorrow

Yes! Of course we mean Jeff Goldblum! You can maybe pretty much find him anywhere from Avenue B to D on Seventh Street and Eighth Street ... when "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" comes to the neighborhood...

And look at the movie credits listed behind Goldblum's name...."Captain Planet and the Planeteers"? "Mad Dog Time"? Someone is trying to be funny...

Does Duff have junk in the trunk?

We continue to follow what will likely be the most important story coming out of the East Village this year. Runnin' Scared had the following tidbit about Hilary Duff's junkie turn on "Law & Order: Special Guest-Star Unit" from Monday:

In the scenes, we are elsewhere informed, Duff is looking to "score" some "stuff," and acts all mouthy to Ice-T, who says something "street."

Word!

Meanwhile! My Hilary Duff/SVU connection sent along the Duff photos that adorn this page. We thank you for that, Hilary-Duff-photo-e-mailing stranger.

Anyway, I can't wait for the Vanessa Hudgens-Zac Efron remake of "The Wire." (Oops, not yet April 1...)

Semi-Duff

Hadn't planned on doing anything about the "Law & Order: SVU" shoot that took place in and around Tompkins Square Park Monday...

Until! A tipster sent a link to the Just Jared celebrity Web site which had the following:

Hilary Duff shoots scenes for her guest appearance on Law and Order: SVU in New York City’s East Village on Monday afternoon (March 23).

The Duffster plays Ashlee Walker, a “rebellious, trashy, slutty, irresponsible young mother” who is suspected of murdering her baby Sierra. The script even reveals that she will be wearing a wet T-shirt and shown “drunk and partying in Cabo!”

The SVU ep is named “Selfish.”

OMG! Hilary Duff!?

Uh, who is she again? Is she an Olsen twin? Is she dating a drummer from a band? Oh, right. She's "Lizzie McGuire."

And there's this:

Duff has also been announced to play Bonnie in "The Story of Bonnie and Clyde," alongside fellow former kid star Kevin Zegers. The announcement got Duff into some hot water when the original Bonnie from the classic 1967 movie "Bonnie and Clyde," Faye Dunaway, reportedly questioned, "Couldn't they at least cast a real actress?"
