This week in TV shoots: 'Feud,' 'Law & Order SVU'

Crews will be out tomorrow around Avenue A, Seventh Street and elsewhere to film scenes for the second season of the FX series "Feud: Capote and the Women" ...
According to Variety, Ryan Murphy's anthology series "follows the true story of how Truman Capote (Tom Hollander) was friends with numerous members of New York high society until he published excerpts of his unfinished novel 'Answered Prayers,' with the excerpts serving as a tell-all about the city's elite."

The cast includes Demi Moore as Ann Woodward, Diane Lane as Slim Keith, Calista Flockhart as Lee Radziwill, Naomi Watts as Babe Paley, ChloĆ« Sevigny as C. Z. Guest and Molly Ringwald as Joanne Carson. Gus Van Sant will direct all eight episodes.

The entertaining first season of "Feud" from 2017 followed the relationship between Joan Crawford (Jessica Lange) and Bette Davis (Susan Sarandon) while filming "What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?"

Also filming! A show that needs no introduction — "Law & Order SVU" ... we spotted signs along Third Street and Avenue A...
Thanks to Steven for the "Feud" pics; Stacie Joy for L&O SVU.

Thanks to the magic of TV-making, there's a new medical cannabis dispensary on Avenue A... temporarily taking the place of Avenue A Deli & Grill just south of St. Mark's Place for a scene today...
Crews for "Law & Order," an American police procedural and legal drama TV series now in its 47th season, were also spotted on Avenue B and Eighth Street.

The 'Law & Order' with recently filmed scenes on 7th Street airs tomorrow night

Photo on 7th Street on Feb. 8 by Derek Berg

As you may recall, on Feb. 8, crews for the all-new "Law & Order" filmed scenes on Seventh Street along Tompkins Square Park. (The neighborhood is no stranger to the show and its spinoffs through the years.)

Photos from the shoot (right here) saw Anthony Anderson's Det. Bernard and newcomer Jeffrey Donovan's Det. Frank Cosgrove investigate a murder, complete with a blood-splattered van on Seventh Street and, later, a candlelit memorial in the Park featuring an 8x10 of a young woman.

The episode filmed here airs tomorrow (March 10) on NBC at 8. (H/T Steven!)

Per the description of the episode titled "Filtered Life" ...
Detectives Kevin Bernard and Frank Cosgrove investigate the disappearance of a social media star whose case takes the internet by storm; whilst A.D.A.'s Nolan Price and Samantha Maroun must weigh their decisions regarding the case against the wishes of the missing woman's family.

And the trailer, featuring a few glimpses of Tompkins...

Last looks at today's 'Law & Order' shoot

Photos by Derek Berg

As we've been mentioning (here and here and here), "Law & Order" is back with new episodes after a 10-plus year absence from NBC (obvi reruns play every few minutes on cable).

Anyway! Today's filming action along Seventh Street between Avenue A and Avenue B saw the return of Anthony Anderson's Det. Bernard and newcomer Jeffrey Donovan as Det. Frank Cosgrove ...
The two were seen checking out a crime scene in a van...
"Law & Order" returns with its first episode on Feb. 24.

'Law & Order' prep walk

"Law & Order" came to town the East Village today.

As noted yesterday, crews erected a tent city ahead of filming in Tompkins Square Park, not all that different from the actual tent city the city discarded in the same area this past November

EVG correspondent Steven shared these pics from earlier today... as some film vehicles were put into place on Seventh Street between Avenue A and Avenue B... (maybe this will be an episode about illegal van AirBnBs?) ...
... of course, we weren't the only media outlet here... those pesky SOBs from WXDV were on hand along with a crew from 1NYC...
... a crew member also created a makeshift memorial inside Tompkins Square Park for a scene...
The original "Law & Order" debuts on NBC on Feb. 24. No word when this episode will air.

This 21st season will once again feature Sam Waterston as Jack McCoy ... new cast members include Odelya Halevi as ADA Samantha Maroun, Jeffrey Donovan as Det. Frank Cosgrove and Hugh Dancy as senior prosecutorial assistant Nathan Price.

The Emmy-winning series originally ran for 20 seasons on NBC, from 1990 to 2010, with 456 episodes. The franchise has been a regular presence on EV streets during its run.

Stay tuned for a few more pics!

'Law & Order' creates a new tent city for Tompkins Square Park

Photos by Steven

As previously mentioned, crews for "Law & Order" will be filming along Avenue A and in and around Tompkins Square Park tomorrow.

Ahead of that, a handful of tents were erected along the Park's Seventh Street entrance between Avenue A and Avenue B ...
The long-running show seems to be keeping with the "ripped from the headlines" approach to the plot... late last summer, a dozen makeshift tent encampments arrived in this same general vicinity... a Department of Homeless Services-led entourage, featuring the Department of Sanitation, the Parks Enforcement Patrol and the NYPD, conducted a "clean-up" in and along Tompkins Square Park in early November.

Several unhoused people are still sleeping in tents in portions of the Park... not too far away from where the filming will take place...
And this isn't the first time a film crew has recreated a tent city in Tompkins.

'Law & Order' makes triumphant return to East Village streets

If you've watched even 15 minutes of the Winter Olympics on NBC, then you've likely seen a promo for the return of the original "Law & Order" on Feb. 24.

Expect to see part of the East Village in the upcoming season. The L&O crew will be setting up for a shoot on Tuesday along Avenue A and various side streets between 10th and Third, per the posted signage. (And vehicles need to be moved tomorrow by 3. Photo below by Steven.)
This 21st season will once again feature Sam Waterston as Jack McCoy ... new cast members include Odelya Halevi as ADA Samantha Maroun, Jeffrey Donovan as Det. Frank Cosgrove and Hugh Dancy as senior prosecutorial assistant Nathan Price.

The Emmy-winning series originally ran for 20 seasons on NBC, from 1990 to 2010, with 456 episodes, spawning 36 four spinoffs and a movie. The franchise has been a regular presence on EV streets during its run.

And for some nostalgia, here's the intro to the "Law & Order" pilot episode from 1990...

Christopher Meloni brings 'Law & Order' to Astor Place

"Law & Order: Organized Crime" has been filming along the Bowery, Cooper Square and Astor Place this week... Derek Berg spotted Det. Stabler, aka Christopher Meloni, near Fourth Avenue and Ninth Street prepping for a scene...
The last time we saw Meloni in the East Village, he was carrying a chainsaw on St. Mark's Place.

'Law & Order: SVU' makes triumphant East Village return

OK, don't know about the triumphant part ... but crews will be around as filming for the 16th season continues... the posted flyers show where you may be able to see cast members Ice-T or Mariska Hargitay...

Anyway, we're now all filled with nostalgia about the time "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" was casting for a "blood whore" in the East Village. Dreamy!
