Report: Avenue C gunshot victim tries to leave in cab, refuses to cooperate with police
[Photo from Friday morning]
Just after midnight on Thursday, an EVG reader told us that there were three shots fired in front of 193 Avenue C at East 12th Street. The NYPD, the reader said, had taped off the scene... and recovered spent 9mm shell casings.
The Post today has more information in its Daily Blotter. According to police officials, a 23-year-old man had been shot in the left leg. He was spotted trying to leave the scene in a cab. "Cops said the man was uncooperative and refused to give them a description of the suspect."
The man was treated at Bellevue for non-life-threatening injuries.

Reader report: Gunshots on East 12th Street at Avenue C
We've heard several reader reports of gunshots this afternoon and this evening on East 12th Street between Avenue B and Avenue C outside Campos Plaza.
The first report came around 2 p.m., where witnesses said they heard 6 shots.
There were reports of three more shots around 6 p.m.
An EVG reader tells us, "I heard shots and saw kids giggling and running... The silver van in the middle of the street was hit by a bullet."

Reader report: Shots fired early this morning?
From the EV Grieve inbox...
This is what happened: I was awake already for a short time, when at 4.12 am on the 26th, I heard two people coming along our block (E 9th bet 1st & A), talking quite loudly and clearly aggravated. They didn't seem drunk, just totally angry at each other. About a minute later, they must have left the block, I heard gun shots, twelve in a row, each regularly interrupted by a pause of about one half to one second. The shouting continued after that, then three more shots were fired, I heard one of the guys shouting/howling like being hit, and then a last single shot. After that everything was quiet. No police sirens, no nothing. Very very weird. I assure you I wasn't dreaming or drunk.
By the echo of the shots I assume that it happened either on 1st Ave or probably even on E 9th bet 1st & 2nd Aves. The sound would have been quite different if the shots were fired around Tompkins Square.
Anyone else hear/witness this...?
