You know that nice tree on Avenue A between Ninth Street and 10th Street, roughly in front of San Loco? This one:
It's gone. A resident who lives in one of these buildings said the tree was seemingly healthy. Then one day last week: There's a "guy in a cherrypicker outside my window with a chainsaw taking the tree apart."
And notice how much else has changed on Avenue A... that Google streetview shot is from spring 2009...

Ouch, that sucks.
Blogger doesn't make anything easy.
Last year a tree fell smack on my car and it cost the insurance company almost $10,000 to fix. It was a sucky day. http://mingum.blogspot.com/2008/10/tree-ate-my-car.html
this totally stinks -- that was a lovely tree.
Time to order a new one -- free trees from the city:

this is awful. why did they do this?
I don't know Glamma. It seemed healthy enough to me.
That side of the Ave just doesn't seem right now without this...
