EVG reader Tony Devers sent along these photos from outside the 108-year old Italian joint Lanza's (an EVG favorite) on First Avenue...
What's that? Help wanted for ... "Mexican cuisine" ...?
Are they changing concepts?
Not at all, said Hugo Alonso at Lanza's, which is part of the Sal Anthony family. They are actually opening a Mexican restaurant on 13th Street and Broadway.
OK, phew...
And more about the new restaurant on 13th Street and Broadway later...

don't scare me like that.
just cause it's one of the last remaining restaurants that doesn't seem threatening tp people over 30 without money doesn't mean its good.. aging cracker midwest hipsters just look at the faded out plates and paintings on the wall and think it's good.. It's no John's! Lil' Frankies/Franks is not old but 10,000 times better than this
even though all the employees are Mexican, no way this place would go Mexican if the price point for the most expensive items at Sabor and Tepito are $12... even with 2 people in it Lanzas is a cash machine.. after paying for the $20 something lunch prix fixe for the gnocchi that cost $2 to make.. they hit you for $8 for 2 espresso singolos...
how is lanza's ? never been
