Someone/Something broke a big window at the 1st Avenue McDonald's

From last night. Over here on First Avenue at the McDonald's next to the Subway… the big window is smashed. Seems pretty recent. (Pretty sure we walked by here Wednesday night and didn't see a smashed window.)

Anyway, take a look at the hole...

Oh wait.

Seems almost too perfect too be manmade. So we're going with alien. Like, an alien laser. Anyone else care to guess what happened here?

C'mon, you guys. This is important.

We can see the hole without your help, Arrow. Grieve, please rein in this insufferable attention whore.

Sorry, pinhead. I was feeling especially generous this holiday season.

One of the No 7-Eleven people, no doubt.

These storm warnings make me a little edgy. Sorry for being an ass, Arrow. Can you point out a SantaCon route for me?

I remember the same thing happening at the McDs on Delancey and Essex St back in 1999 or so. Happened while i was eating there, no one could explain it. Several people just brushed the glass of their clothes and kept eating.

uhh, thanks for pointing that out! Although I don't personally patronize McDonalds, this McDonalds is one of the few places left where I see local seniors able to enjoy a few minutes relaxing with a cuppa, it actually functions as a part of the community.

How does this "restaurant"continue to turn a public sidewalk into their dining room? They regularly put TONS of trash out in front and generally take up the whole sidewalk. I heard it was owned by a bunch of ex-cops and they know how to get around the "sidewalk patio" laws. Really that is not a sidewalk patio but is an extension of their restaurant into public space.

An explosion of flavor?

@terryt: they got the sidewalk-extension permit approved after they made a small ($250? I don't remember) contribution to the campaign committee for city councilcreature Antonio Pagan (now, the late A.P.). One of the stipulations was that the sidewalk portion would be for waiter service, only.

@ Ken- Oh shit! They got the McRib back? I didn't see a sign.

Yes, every damaged chain store MUST be the work of the peaceful No 7-Eleven protesters.

Fantasy aside, let's talk about the 7-Eleven workers on Avenue A and THEIR vandalism. There's an active police investigation looking into these goons for dumping gallons of paint all over the walls and floors in the bathrooms of local businesses.

Maybe the rock throwers thought it was the 7-11

That place sucks. It has sucked since it opened and it continues to suck. That "local seniors" frequent this place as part of the community is a further indictment of the "Silent Generation" and the early Boomers. Particularly when there are a number of better (and almost as cheap) alternatives in the vicinity.

Anonymous 12:01, No there isn't. Which is not to say some deranged person didn't call and make this charge.

@1:12 Yes, there is. They trashed the bathroom at TSB a few weeks ago. The police were there and filed a report.

Anonymous 3:24, That's not an "ongoing investigation." And there's no evidence that it was a worker from 7-Eleven.

Anon 12:30 - I'm genuinely curious as to the "better (and almost as cheap) alternatives in the vicinity" to which you refer, where a senior is able to buy a cuppa and sit undisturbed for 30 mins or so during the day. These are people who aren't going more than a block or 2 from home.

This McCrapples was visited in the same manner two black-outs ago, as was the Starfucks in Astor Place....

It seems obvious that an invasion of arrows made the hole. Hiding in plain sight.

A meteorite strike from the Geminid shower?

That hole is suspiciously biscuit-sized.
