It was only a matter of time. Let's face it, there are people who have no respect for anything. While I am not a fan of the artist nor of this piece of sculpture in particular, I do not think it is right for anyone to deface someone else's property, or the people's property if it is owned by the city, state or federal government.
This kind of stupid, moronic tagging shows just how low on the intelligence level a human can sink to before they are just slugs. It serves no purpose. It gives them nothing in return. It will be removed and forgotten.
Still I would rather see something else in its place, but alas...that's not up to me.
He scribbled on my raincoat at 4:00 one morning coming home from a party in Brooklyn. A small person, I think. But he wasn't Keith Hering until after I threw the coat. STUPID!
Is it safe to come out yet? I never expected it to be this bad when I moved into the area... I don't know, it's all getting a little to 'urban' and 'edgy,' and last night, fluffy was kept up all night by some person screaming... I think it may have even been a homeless man, and I do not mean like the homeless man who only has a sub 4500sq foot home. I mean like real homeless, and most likely a felon... The agent said they got rid of all those type of people...

That piece of steel just got some irony.

Say, didn't Haring make his name (and later fortune) from defacing public and private property?

We will now get to see how good that anti-fitti paint really is!
Vandalizing this work of "art" actually improved it.

It's about self-importance. It's the best they can do. They have nothing else.
It is only considered art when a rich person spends a lot of money for it, otherwise it's urban blight.
It was in chalk..never permanently defaced.. look it up
Looks like he pooped her out.
Thank Goodness. Finally! Keith is lovin it.
It was better with the tag.
Technically , it's a painted steel sculpture, not a statue. Artistically, it's fluff. Realistically, it's high priced decoration.
