Someone put the above sign on the Ninth Street side of the former P.S 64 and CHARAS/El Bohio community center this past weekend.
The sign notes that there are pigeons now trapped inside the building after the windows were recently boarded up on the top floor.
They are smashing up against the windows to get free. Heard 3 broken windows in one hour. Injured birds may be found on the ground hurt by the broken glass.
There's a number for the Wild Bird Fund on the Upper West Side.
As previously reported, developer Gregg Singer, who bought the property between Avenue B and Avenue C from the city in 1998, continues to push having the building converted into student housing.
Thanks to David Reyer for the photo!

Can the FDNY or NYPD help in this situation? And send the bill to Gregg Singer, please.
a few less pigeons in this city isnt a bad thing
The Wild Bird Fund is fantastic. I have taken a few injured pigeons that I've found in the neighborhood and they've fixed them up and when they're all better, they release them in central park. Don't ignore a suffering bird. Do something, and make a $20 donation while you're there if you can.
I can't say enough good things about the Wild Bird Fund.
9:55 horrible attitude towards the suffering of innocent animals.
There's a night security guard in the building.
2:58 agreed. The Speciesism is strong with that one.
Any update on this situation? I wish I wasn't out of town.
They went to all the trouble of making and posting that sign but then didn't do anything to actually get the birds out???
Whoever posted that sign should have called 311, 911, ACC, NYPD's Animal Control Squad and/or NYS Dec's Region 2 office.
911???? we are talking about some pigeons?!?!?!?!? lets not over do it, go to the park there are plenty more
EVGrieve,
Please update us on the fate of the trapped pigeons.
Thank you,
Concerned
Speaking of pigeons, the pigeon netter in the green van was spotted again, this time in Greenpoint, and CBS 2 news did a story on the guy who goes around with a net and snagging hundreds of pigeons. They said he is selling them to shooting ranges in Pennsylvania which is what I suspected. Heres the story:

@6:40 - I had the same thought. Seems weird to post this sign when no one can do anything other than call 311. Animal rescue or a regular person can't just break into the property. Is there a phone number posted on the construction wall to report a problem? Seems like that would be the first logical step. Anyway, I hope the pigeons fly out.
