On 7th Street, neighboring businesses 75 Degrees Cafe & Bakery and Baonanas have closed

Two side-by-side businesses have closed at 93 E. Seventh St. just east of First Avenue. 

Door signage states that Baonanas, which offers its take on banana pudding and other desserts, "is closed until TBD."

Their neighbor to the west, 7th Street Burger, is selling half-pints of their desserts. 

Real-life couple Trisha Villanueva and Lloyd Ortuoste started Baonanas in Jersey City in 2014... and debuted here in the spring of 2022.

Meanwhile, in the storefront to the east, 75 Degrees Cafe & Bakery has officially closed...

A note on the door states, "Unfortunately, our time in the East Village has come to an end..."

The business, described as a "modern Japanese-inspired cafe," opened in November 2021.

75 Degrees Cafe & Bakery opened earlier this month at 93 1/2 E. Seventh St. just east of First Avenue. 

The business, described as a "modern Japanese-inspired cafe," offers baked goods and coffee daily from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. 

The staff/ownership here includes Jojo, the pastry chef, Jade, the head barista, and Ashe, the business manager. The cafe's Instagram account has details (and photos!) of some of the featured desserts, including matcha tiramisu and chocolate brownie chiffon cake. 

This retail space has been vacant since a fire shuttered Caracas Arepa Bar in September 2016. 

75 Degrees Cafe & Bakery slated for this 7th Street storefront

75 Degrees Cafe & Bakery is opening in the weeks ahead at 93 1/2 E. Seventh St. just east of First Avenue.

This will be the first storefront for the business specializing in Asian desserts, created by "a group of friends who have always liked to eat, drink and create amazing food together," per the 75 Degrees website.  

The cafe's Instagram account has details (and photos!) of some of the featured desserts, including matcha tiramisu and chocolate brownie chiffon cake.
