Trinity Lower East Side (hello to Pastor Will above!) on Avenue B at Ninth Street is hosting its annual Blessing of the Animals on Sunday.
Inspired by Saint Francis and his love for all God's creatures, on Sunday, Oct. 8, we invite all pets and their parents to join us for our beloved annual Blessing of the Animals!"There are two opportunities for pets to receive a blessing:
• At 11 a.m. our regular worship service indoors will become alive with activity as pets join in the prayer and praise! Please be sure all pets joining our service are well-behaved and potty trained.
• At 1 p.m. a brief blessing will be given outdoors in our garden, perfect for any pets and parents who prefer a blessing on the go!
There are two opportunities to have your pets blessed:• At 11 a.m., well-behaved pets are invited to join us for worship, which will begin with the Blessing of Animals and continue with Holy Communion, where everyone is welcome.• At 1 p.m., a brief blessing will be given outdoors in Trinity's garden (weather permitting), perfect for pets on the move and those who might be too rambunctious to join us indoors.
In commemoration of St. Francis' love for all creatures and in celebration of the gifts of love and devotion our pets bring to our lives, Trinity Lower East Side Lutheran Parish will host a walk-through Blessing of the Animals in their garden on the corner of Avenue B and 9th Street this Sunday, Oct. 4, from 1 to 2 in the afternoon.Especially if you are out enjoying the exciting events around the neighborhood at this year's LUNGS Harvest Festival on Sunday, stop by Trinity's garden with your furry friends for a blessing! Trinity's church pup and Tompkins Square Dog Run favorite Joey will be there and he'd love to welcome you!
