As we reported last week, someone tagged the Federal Reserve building in the Financial District last week with the words "audit me." We watched last Thursday as a Fed Graffiti Removal team worked dilligently to remove the offending comment.
When we checked back in, the always-classy poster board and duct tape were back up on the wall...along with a few warning pylons.

Federal Reserve tagged
So, at the Federal Reserve — home of the largest gold repository in the world, allegedly! — someone took to the side of this Financial District institution with spray paint a few days ago... Officials quickly covered up the offending comments with poster board and duct tape... what did the person write on the building?
Attempts to unfasten the poster board were unsuccessful due to the large amount of Federal Reserve officers making the rounds.
Security has been tight there, of course, since the elder brother of Hans Gruber knocked off the joint in "Die Hard: With a Vengeance".
In any event! Yesterday afternoon, a Fed Graffiti Removal Team arrived to assess the scene and clean...
And what did the vandal write?
From our untrained eye, it appears to say: Audit Me.

Wall Street week in review: Monday
So, how was your week? As I've written before, I work in the Financial District, though my job has nothing to do with financials (or districts). Or Wall Street. Anyway, as you read here exclusively last week, things aren't going so well on Wall Street. But seriously, this past week was -- for a lack of a better word -- interesting. I noticed this giddy undercurrent while walking around. Especially among the tourists, who sensed they were witnessing history. And there was no shortage of activity, which is documented in subsequent posts.
On Monday, a small group (uh, four) of Ron Paul's Campaign for Liberty volunteers took to the steps of Federal Hall to voice displeasure over the Fed's bajillion dollar bailout proposal.
[For the record, that is NOT my thumb with the dirty nail...]
Also! Reporters and various rubberneckers stood outside the Federal Reserve on Maiden Lane to look at some well-dressed white people in suits. They were waiting to see Hillary Clinton.
And I think we all know why there was such commotion at the Fed...the missing gold!
