Greenwich Marketplace closes on 4th Avenue

A for-rent sign now hangs in the front window at at 120 Fourth Ave. at 12th Street ... bringing an end to Greenwich Marketplace's time here on the NW corner. (Thanks to EVG reader Doug for the photo.)

The market, with a larger-than-average deli counter serving geographically friendly items such as the NYU Wrap, opened in March 2021

The previous tenant, the PokéSpot, closed in the summer of 2020 after four years. Before that, we had a Subway (sandwich shop) here along a well-traveled corridor.

Greenwich Marketplace debuts on 4th Avenue

Greenwich Marketplace is now open at 120 Fourth Ave. at 12th Street... (coming-soon coverage here).

An EVG reader ducked his head inside the door and reports finding the usual corner market offerings with a larger-than-average deli counter serving up a variety of sandwiches, wraps, paninis and salads as well as breakfast items (omelettes, French toast, egg sandwiches, etc)... and not to mention smoothies and fresh juice.

There are also geographically friendly names on the menu, such as the NYU Wrap featuring grilled chicken, mozzarella cheese, onions, lettuce, tomatoes and avocado ($9.49). You can find the menu at Seamless.

The previous tenant, the PokéSpot, officially closed this past summer after four years. Before that, we had a Subway (sandwich shop) here.

New signage for the incoming Greenwich Marketplace on 4th Avenue

We have a changing of the awning here on the northwest corner of Fourth Avenue and 12th Street ... the top pic shows the new look... and this photo via EVG reader Doug offers the now-replaced late-December version...
Liking the new version much better. You?

The market has been in the works for several months now... when they do open, they'll be serving up a variety of house-made sandwiches and juices ... as well as some grocery fare that you'd expect to find at a corner market.

Signage reveal for Greenwich Marketplace on 4th Avenue

Signage went up yesterday on the northwest corner of Fourth Avenue and 12th Street for Greenwich Marketplace. (Thanks for the photo, Doug!)

And we, uh, haven't learned anything else about the new business since our previous post on Nov. 25.

But this does look more promising than the previous coming-soon banner, which showed a large sandwich (large not in a good way), smoothies and cheesecake with (guessing) drizzled strawberry confit.

The previous tenant, the PokéSpot, officially closed this past summer after four years. Before that, we had a Subway (sandwich shop) here.

Greenwich Marketplace coming to this 4th Avenue storefront

Signage is up on the northwest corner of Fourth Avenue and 12th Street for Greenwich Marketplace (thanks Doug for the photos!)...
Based on that banner, it looks to be a deli with sandwiches, smoothies, salads... and cheesecake.

The previous tenant, the PokéSpot, officially closed this past summer after four years. Before that, we had a Subway (sandwich shop) here.
