After nearly 30 years, Meg has left the East Village

Photos by Steven

Meg, the locally made, independent clothing line, has closed its East Village location... bringing an end to 28 years of business here.

Back in February, the shop moved its flagship location down to 262 Mott St. However, founder Megan Kinney used the original storefront at 312 E. Ninth St. between First Avenue and Second Avenue for a Meg Archive ... where patrons could sell or trade Meg clothes ... with proceeds going to Planned Parenthood.

A letter on the door — addressed to "Meg babes" — thanks patrons and acknowledges the "amazing moments" at the store...
Kinney started her business here in 1994 ... she and her husband lived in the basement at the address for a while.

The Meg locations remain on Mott Street and in Boerum Hill in Brooklyn and Toronto.

Meg is on the move

Photos by Stacie Joy

Meg, the locally made, independent clothing line, is moving its flagship NYC location... from its longtime home on Ninth Street to 262 Mott St. just below Houston.

As we're told, the new outpost will be open on Friday. However, this doesn't mean an empty storefront now at 312 E. Ninth St. between First Avenue and Second Avenue. This space will become a "Meg Archive" for used Meg clothes to be resold and traded.

Meanwhile, EVG contributor Stacie Joy reports there are several pieces left at the shop... everything is under $25. Gloves are $2/pair, sweats for S10, dresses, jumpsuits, tops, etc., $25.
Store hours: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Megan Kinney opened her first shop in the East Village in 1994.

Report: Letter claiming to be from terrorist group found at East 9th Street boutique

From the Daily Blotter in the Post today:

A hate-filled letter claiming to be from the terrorist who masterminded the deadly Paris attacks was mailed to an East Village boutique, authorities said Tuesday. The ranting note, which included anti-Semitic, anti-French and anti-gay language, was found at Meg, a clothing store on East Ninth Street, at 11 a.m. Monday, cops said.

The NYPD's Hate Crime Task Force is investigating the letter, whose return address included the name Abdelhamid Abaaoud.
