On Avenue A, Two Hands turns over to Korean Street Foods

Signage is up now at 147 Avenue A for Korean Street Foods, which is apparently serving as both the business name and a description of the food likely to be found here in the future.

Details are scarce about the establishment between Ninth Street and 10th Street.

The new signage arrival comes on the heels of the closure of Two Hands in recent weeks. (A note on the door pointed to a "technical issue" for what was to be a temporary situation.) The Korean corn dog specialists — part of an expanding chain — opened in April 2021. Their other NYC outposts remain in service.

What's up with Two Hands?

Photos by Steven

The Two Hands outpost on Avenue A between Ninth Street and 10th Street has been closed for the past week-plus.

A sign on the front window of the Korean corn dog specialists states "a technical issue" is behind the closure.. and go to the location on Mott Street...
The windows were later papered up... and it appears the interior has mostly been packed up...
Google lists the business as permanently closed. We reached out to learn more about the status of the Avenue A shop, which opened here in April 2021 as part of the L.A.-based chain's U.S. expansion.

Tough times for Korean-style street food here. Oh K-Dog & Egg Toast closed its doors earlier this month at 36 St. Mark's Place between Second Avenue and Third Avenue.

Two Hands debuts on Avenue A

The first NYC outpost of Two Hands, a quick-serve establishment serving "Seoul fresh corn dogs," opened back on Friday here at 147 Avenue A between Ninth Street and 10th Street.

Here's a look at what to expect with their varieties of corn dogs...
They also serve dirty fries — deep-fried potato tater puffs with Two Hands Dirty Sauce and Cheetos powder. Find the menu here.

Hours: Open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., with an 11 p.m. close on Fridays and Saturdays.

The expanding company also has franchises in California, Arizona and Nevada... and now NYC.

Raising the Two Hands signage on Avenue A

The Two Hands signage arrived yesterday at 147 Avenue A at Ninth Street... as we noted on Monday, this space will serve "Seoul fresh corn dogs."

This will be the first NYC location for the expanding company that has franchises in California, Arizona and Nevada.

With the arrival next to Ralph’s Famous Italian Ices and Ice Cream ... there's a bit of a boardwalk vibe here now along Avenue A ...
Thanks to Steven for the photos!

Hot dogs? How about Korean-style corn dogs for 147 Avenue A

Last week we mentioned that a new quick-serve restaurant was in the works for 147 Avenue A between Ninth Street and 10th Street. The work permits listed the business as a "hot dog store."

Well! That's sorta accurate. Turns out "corn dog store" would have been an even better descriptor.

As Steven points out, there's now a QR code out front ... taking you to the website for Two Hands — "Seoul fresh corn dogs" ...
This looks to be the first NYC location for the expanding company that has franchises in California, Arizona and Nevada.

Here's a look at what to expect with their varieties of corn dogs...
... and here's some fetish promo footage via the Two Hands Instagram account...
