Random shirtless, bearded guy on a bike now helping market luxury condos at 277 E. 7th St.
On Tuesday, we noted that a new branding/marketing campaign is in the works for the luxury condos at 277 E. Seventh St. near Avenue D.
The place hit the market in early October, though, to date, none of the six units have sold.
So there's a new broker as well as a new name for the building — Seven East Village.
And now, as our friends at Curbed noted, there are new marketing materials to showcase these million-dollar homes.
Behold Mr. Seven East Village ...
Not even sure where to begin with this one. Well, let's start by asking why First Avenue at St. Mark's Place is subbing for East Seventh Street and Avenue C — and not even Avenue D where No. 277 is nearest.
Your turn.

But of course!: Former Norman's Sound & Vision space becoming a Dunkin' Donuts
[EVG file photo from August 2012]
After 22 years, Norman's Sound & Vision closed at 67 Cooper Square near East Seventh Street back in August 2012.
Now comes word via EVG Facebook friend Michael Hirsch that the space will become a — ding, ding! — Dunkin' Donuts.
Sure enough!
The DOB permits approved on Tuesday show work for a DD in this space...
Meanwhile, just give us a kick down here on the floor when a Starbucks or bank or 7-Eleven moves into the Kim's space.

There's a really steep fine for jumping on this sidewalk gate outside Bedlam
Spotted these stickers the other day in front of Bedlam at 40 Avenue C…
Not sure who enforces this fine… and gets to keep the money. And how are we expected to pay?

Hey, let's go preview the 2014 Lamborghini on East 11th Street!
Apparently there's some sort of super exclusive preview event today over at the Bath House Studios on East 11th Street between Avenue A and Avenue B… where a select group of VIP types can see some 2014 Lamborghini (The Huracán LP 610-4? Are the carbon-ceramic brakes standard?) … Dave on 7th notes the event — invite only, sorry losers! — comes complete with valet parking…
The East Village seems like the perfect locale for previewing $200,000 super cars! Can we thank EV Lambo for setting this up?

And how was your Saturday morning?
An East Village couple awoke yesterday morning to reportedly find a drunken man peeing in their bathroom sink.
To the New York Post!
The Post referred to the sink pee-er as "the drunken hipster."

To the New York Post!
It turned out the man was staying in another apartment in the building at First Avenue and East 13th Street. He was too inebriated to find the right apartment when he got home.
The couple whose apartment the man invaded called 911. But after cops showed up, they thought better of pressing charges.

Prepping for the NYC Pizza Run in Tompkins Square Park
Oh. The NYC Pizza Run starts this morning at 11 in Tompkins Square Park.
From the website!
What does participating entail?
Participants will run four laps around the park, counterclockwise. The total distance of the race is 2.25 miles. After lap 1, lap 2, and lap 3, there will be a “pizza station” set up where participants must stop to eat a slice of pizza before they can continue with the next lap. The first person to complete the run will be crowned the NYC Pizza Run Champion!
It costs $50 to enter, which includes an official race bib, the pizza and drinks afterwards at Common Ground. Also! "A portion of the proceeds will also be donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International (JDRF)." And the slices come via Pizza by Cer té – "Manhattan’s first green pizzeria."
Dave on 7th, who took these photos, wonders if the participants will be running by the folks waiting in line for a free meal this morning...
Anyway, if you don't like NYC Pizza Runs, then move to...

A resident of 310 First Avenue reported that her apartment was broken into last Friday at 4:09 p.m. She told police that when she entered the apartment, she saw a man inside her bedroom without permission to be there. He was also naked in her bedroom and when she went in the room, she saw him putting on her skirt. She said that she was unsure if she had locked the door and there was no forced entry. No arrests have been made.

What the hell was that?
We waited to post these photos until we spoke with NASA, NORAD, the U.S. Military and the World Weekly News.
Bobby Williams took these photos from his East Village apartment last night. Here is his description via email: "This flew by about 9:38 pm. Heading north then turning east."
Aside from anything related to the Hoboken Hoof or Amanda Bynes (just getting those guesses out of the way!), any ideas what this is/was?

Birds and rat squirrel fight over slice of pizza in Tompkins Square Park
So some birds were enjoying a slice today near Tompkins Square Park, as this photo from Bobby Williams shows...
Then! Lurking! A rat! Steals the slice...[Updated: Err, maybe it's a squirrel. Sorry. Still.]
Sort of slo-mo via the Grievestrator...
And guess what? The birds got it back...
Safety in numbers. And don't fuck with the Park's birds.

East Village residents ask: WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT NOISE LAST NIGHT?
We're getting all kinds of reports this morning, like this email from a resident on Avenue A near East Second Street (subject line — Last night's starship landing):
Twitter noticed too.
Anyone else? We haven't heard anything about this just yet... like, anything official.
Updated
Con Ed said this via Twitter: "Looked into it and I have no reports of anything happening there..." Meaning the power plant on East 14th Street and Avenue C, a likely culprit.
So. UFO, totally.
Meanwhile, Unexplained Loud Booms and Light Flashes Persist in U.S.
Any reports of a crazy loud noises at 2:40 AM this morning? We woke up to what I can only describe as a harrier jet landing outside our window. It lasted about 15 seconds each time with a couple minutes between each. Total of 3. Have never heard anything like it.
Twitter noticed too.
Is anyone else hearing the East Village explode right now?

Today, the Post reports that "The vending machine of the future is coming to your local bar, funded in part by one of the city’s grants for startup companies." The machines will offer products tailored to its location.
So with that in mind. The wall-mounted machine, with its credit card-only payment system, made its NYC premiere yesterday at the neighborhood's Pub-Crawling Capital — the Village Pourhouse on Third Avenue at East 11th Street.

Per the Post:
At its debut location, the machine is the perfect one-stop-shop for guys looking to get lucky. It sells minty gum and mouthwash and will soon feature condoms and Old Spice cologne.
“People are here a lot of times to meet new people of the opposite sex. It’s important to have fresh breath and smell great,” said Brian Shimmerlik, the mastermind behind the machine.

'War' is declared as city plans luxury development in the middle of public housing
Here we go.
The Daily News reports today that the cash-strapped New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) is planning on leasing playground and community center space for luxury high-rises
Per the article:
Of the new units, 20 percent will be set aside as "affordable" — designated for families with net income of $50,000 or less.
But will the richies want to live so close to the poors? Not to worry! Per the article: "The new luxury towers will face away from the old, deteroriating affordable housing."
As the Daily News put it: "The housing authority is planning its very own Tale of Two Cities."
On the Lower East Side, a parking lot at the Baruch Houses will be redeveloped into luxury towers. There are also plans to lease a parking garage at Campos Plaza on Avenue C.
Meanwhile, residents are mobilizing against the plan. The Lo-Down has details from last night's CB3 Land Use Committee meeting, where Smith Houses Tenant President Aixa Torres warned: "This is a travesty," she said. "We are not going to take this… When no one wanted to live here, we stayed… if you want a war, you got a war."
The upside for the NYCHA: They expect to generate $31 million to $46 million in annual lease payments, "all of which will go toward fixing up deteriorating buildings. The agency currently has a backlog of 420,000 repair orders and faces a $60 million budget gap annually," the Daily News reported.

Per the article:
[T]he agency plans to lease out land to private developers who will then build some 3 million square feet of luxury apartments smack in the middle of Manhattan housing projects.
Internal documents obtained by the Daily News show the planned 4,330 apartments in eight developments are all in hot real estate neighborhoods, including the upper East and West Sides, the lower East Side and lower Manhattan.
Of the new units, 20 percent will be set aside as "affordable" — designated for families with net income of $50,000 or less.
